Cookies for Breakfast kind of day

I hit the snooze button 3 times this morning. I got to work still earlier than expected since traffic is pretty well non-existent this week for the commute in.

Garett's cough was much better last night, though it's still very obvious he has one, but he fell asleep around 8 last night, and only coughed for a short period around 1:30 this morning and went back to sleep. I guess he napped for 3 hours at daycare yesterday--he's catching up on what he needs most :) Good boy. Our daycare provider only has him this week, so she is acting like his own personal nurse, getting him back to healthy :) She is so amazing (I know I say this weekly, but she's seriously my angel on earth).

I am taking off from work at 12:30 today. I welcome the few hours off--I find 4 day weeks go so slow, I need more of a break.

We have no real plans for New Years. We may have one couple over to ring the new year in with, but I'm not sure if it will pan out. We have a lot of stuff to get done around the house anyways, so maybe Ty and I will just crack open the bottle of champs in the pantry collecting dust and have a party for two once G hits the hay.

I ordered my dress yesterday for our Jersey Shore themed birthday party for Ty. Should be fun :) I am holding on so hard from going all out. There's no point in spending hundreds of dollars decorating for nothing, or cooking homemade apps, so I will keep it minimal as it is a potluck anyways :)

I also ordered the rest of G's birthday party décor. I am going to mail out his invitations this week--I should have thought about the new price of stamps before I opted for the bigger invite haha. oops :)

I emailed the bakery in Embrun to get a quote on a few things for his birthday (they also make sandwiches and such).Original interaction was December 16 and I just had to email them back 2 weeks later....great customer service Boulangerie du Village (NOT). Should I also mention we had been emailing in English, and the last email they sent me was 100% French? I have no idea what it said other than when I checked google translate...not really a good business practise, I think.
Guess I will throw my money at someone else if they don't want it :)

I also ordered G's birthday outfit. I'm excited to see his little face when he sees the life-size Caillou balloon :)

His gift we have to figure out. When Ty agreed we were getting him a battery operated vehicle for his birthday, apparently he meant next year. Which I suppose makes more sense, since he is for sure not allowed to ride it around alone this summer, being only 2 haha. But now I am at a total loss. I liked the car idea because it was a big box, and it was an easy choice. Now what do I do? Back to the drawing board there.

I must say, I really don't mind the frigid temperatures today brought to us. If this freezing cold means no snow, I am totally ok with that. I hate how slow the commute is when it's snowy. I hate when the plows go by at 3 AM and wake me up. I hate brushing off/scraping the car. Dear Winter: Keep the snow to yourself this year mmkay? Thanks.

I just ate two chocolate chip cookies. for breakfast. gotta love the holiday season, where that is socially acceptable :)

Next week I am going to take a day on the weekend or after work and go pick up the paint for the spare room and powder room. I have just about everything I need for the powder room at this point (just need new accessories--hand towels, trash can, soap dispenser, toilet bowl brush , etc). So I can polish that off with one online order :) The spare room will take a little more thought. I have the bedding and the paint colour picked. But I am not sure of the direction I want to take with the room. I will take my time with décor in there --but I might even want to reconsider the paint colour. We'll see!

Well, that's all I can think of for now as an update! Happy New Year's Eve eve, everyone :)
