Another one bites the dust
Well, that's all she wrote for Christmas 2014, folks!
I really hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas full of food and family and presents and laughter. Hope the Claus himself was good to you all!
We had a wonderfully hectic Christmas, like I'm sure the rest of the world did. Lugging gifts to and from places, staying up past our bedtime two nights in row, and lots of hugs and "thank you's".
The only thing that could have made Christmas better, is if G didn't come down with a new virus. I mean, the poor kid wasn't even at Daycare and STILL started up. On boxing day it started--fever, coughing, throwing up a bit that night...then when we got up on the 27th, we didn't like how he was breathing (we both agreed it looked labored, though he wasn't really affected by it). We got his fever down and were off to Cheo. We spent just over 3 hours there and were assured his breathing wasn't really laboured, but a fever can cause it to look that way. She said his xrays were clear, but he definitely had a viral cough (which is going around--you should have heard that place. yuck.).
So now his fever is totally gone, but the coughing is eating away at my level of happiness. It is so bad for the first hour or two when he goes to bed until he is soundly asleep, when he won't wake up at all. I feel so bad for him. I feel so bad for us. To add insult to injury, she said it could last up to 6 weeks this cough. It better NOT last that long.
So yesterday, Tyler and I decided we have had it with the bug that our family just can't seem to kick. When G went down for a nap we started.Started off in the big upstairs living room, where we all spend a lot of time. Moved the big leather sectional, wiped it all down with cleaner, vacuumed and shampooed the carpets, cleaned the top of the fan, washed the windows and baseboards. Boxed up three moving boxes of toys to put into storage, soaked all of his smaller toys in the sink with hot water and soap/Clorox. Washed every single thing in this room. No more germs.
We didn't have the time to do this to the rest of the house that day--I wanted G to have some quiet nap time without vacuums and such going off--so we went downstairs--filters on the fridge, air exchanger and furnace: changed and Central Vac canister emptied. Also emptied the dishwasher and switched over the laundry/put it away.
We finished unloading the big stuff from the garage into the house--we brought up G's new toybox to assemble but didn't have the mental fortitude to put it together. G woke up and we spent the rest of the day snacking, watching movies together, playing, relaxing before we all wanted baths.
Back to the grind today! Most people are out of the office this week, so will be very quiet--but after the last few days, I could definitely use the "break".
Next up: 2015. It will be hard to top 2014, but we will certainly give it a whirl! To look forward to : 12 months of dates,
a trip to the Carribean,
Montreal trip in July,
maybe a Toronto trip for our anniversary.
House renos will begin shortly (renos=finish the basement, paint and decorate the rest of the house)--will post an update/completed pic of G's room (which is currently still the only finished room in the house haha.
A certain someone is turning 2 this year
A certain daddy is turning 32 this year
A certain mommy is turning 29 this year
A much more of that crazy thing called "life" in between it all :)
Here's to a fantastic new year full of love, adventure, new beginnings and added success!!
