Weekend Recap*

Well, it was a busy weekend, but we made it through!

Friday I stayed home to nurse myself back to health. I somewhat succeeded--I napped a bit and cleaned the house a bit (which makes me feel better) while G was at daycare. He is doing really well so I try not to expose him to me too much when I'm still not feeling 100%.

I had decided I was going to attend Tyler's cousins 40th party that night at Vetta Osteria. I was looking forward to the night away.

So I took my time getting ready that day and listening to my body. If I started feeling not great, I would stay in. But I was feeling pretty good, so around 5 I headed over to my friend Amber's place, we ordered pizza, had a drink and chatted a bit before we cabbed over to the restaurant/bar. There were quite a few people, but not as much family as I was expecting, which is fine. It was still a nice night out!

Around 11 we headed over to the Royal Oak across the street--quieter and did some more visiting and then headed to Elgin Street Diner for a late night greasy onion ring and French fry poutine. yum!

We went back home and went to bed with full bellies. I slept at Amber's that night and it was my first night out overnight alone without Ty since G was born...such a weird feeling!

Saturday I was up bright and early and was home by 9:30. Tyler left to go to work around 10:30 and was gone to his cousins 30th birthday that day/night. They did some indoor golfing, bowling and hung out with cousins as well.

On Sunday I ran out to grab some last minute stuff for our daycare providers gift. She bought G a Mr Potato Head thing and made us (on G's behalf) a frame with a photo collage from the past year in it. So cute. She is so amazing to us that I just didn't feel right about handing her just the card with money (though I'm sure that's all anyone ever really wants haha), but I went out and picked up this cool plain brown bag gift bag and had Garett decorate it for her. I got her a Godiva chocolate set with a mug and such in the package, we got her a yankee candle and a baking cook book (she better make me something from there lol). Just a little additional something to say thank you that's a little more gift-like.

After that, we decorated the salt dough ornaments we made last week. I painted the Hand print ornament like a santa clause (where the fingers were his beard, the palm was his face and hat and the thumbwas the tip of the santa hat--saw it on pinterest and thought I would give it a whirl. Turned out pretty cute. I let G go to town with the paint on his foot ornament. I think you might not be able to tell it's a foot print now, but that's half the fun, right? :)

He was in an artsy mood, so we went and put on a movie and coloured for the next almost hour after that! The boy loves markers and paint and crafts!

I made some homemade sloppy joes for dinner, which we all loved--I will add the recipe to the mix :) Though Tyler hated that I put it on whole wheat buns...sorryyyyyy mister "let's eat as much white bread as possible" haha

Garett wasn't a huge fan of the fact the meat was in a bun..he ate mostly just the filling (which is fine by me, it had beans and red peppers and onions in there with tomato paste/tomato sauce. etc etc so it was pretty ok for him)...he's so funny because he loves bread on it's own but doesn't want things in his bread haha

Today is my last real full day of "work" before the holidays begin :) Tomorrow afternoon we are heading out for a pedicure (only 6 of us) and then out to Johnny Canucks for dinner and a drink (well, only 1 for me..I don't know about the rest of them haha). Then Christmas Eve is the kids party here and we all will leave around 11. Then I am off until Monday--no real holidays for me this year. But I have been off SO much lately with sick toddler or sick mommy I don't really feel like I need a break.

Things are about to get SO quiet with everyone else on holidays though..I will have to make a to-do list of things to accomplish. I'm already deep into birthday party planning and will have that done soon enough. Must think of things to do!...

Anyways, that was pretty much it for the weekend :) Hope everyone got in as much family time and fun as we did and hope you all rest up in preparation for the hectic-ness the new few days brings!!
