Longest weekend ever recap
Thursday and Friday I was away from the office.
I got my grocery shopping done, a trip to Costco and brought food to Ty on the store on Thursday. Once that was all done, I went home, cleaned the fridge and put all the food away, caught up on putting laundry away and emptied the dishwasher before picking up my Munchkin.
Friday was a bit of a different story, as I was starting to develop a really sore throat and an annoying cough. G was home from daycare that day so we just laid low, watched some movies, cleaned up a bit, changed bedsheets and made up the spare room bed with the new set :)
Saturday we had booked a hotel, made dinner reservations at our favourite place, bought tickets to go see our favourite comedian (the one we hung out with last time he was in town for Ty's 29th birthday). It was a date night we were long overdue for, and it was supposed to be the first night Tyler's mom and stepdad had Garett overnight. We had just cooked up some breakfast for us all, sat down and were talking when Ty got a call. His Uncle had been very sick for quite some time, and it all came to a head on Saturday. He headed out right away, bringing everything he needed for the night just in case some sort of miracle was delivered to the family.
I napped G like normal, and packed all of our overnight things (just in case). Around 2:30 Ty texted me that it had happened at 2:25--he was gone. They had some time all together at the house, which was nice, and I met him at my M-I-L's house around 4 with G. My father in law was ok with everything and insisted that we still at least go for dinner, so we decided to cancel our reservations instead of going to the Market, we just went to the Boston Pizza around the corner.
We had a pretty reflective dinner--some deep chats happened at that little corner table at BP on that Saturday night. I have never loved this husband of mine more. How someone can be so raw, so open to someone else is incredible to me. I am a very closed off person with most of the world, but with him, he brings out my ability to be vulnerable. It is sad and wonderful all at the same time. It breaks our hearts that now his aunt has to wander through life without her "person". That might be the saddest part of it all...I held him a little closer as we fell asleep last night. Not because he needed it, but because I did.
He stayed over at a cousins house on Saturday night to reminisce and be together through this time and came home for breakfast the following day.
Sunday was another lay-low kind of day. Nothing really seemed to happen. I vacuumed all the carpets in the house and that was pretty much it! We played a lot and we laid down for a nap when G did--it was a nice day :)
Today has been pretty quick so far--worked to catch up on everything I missed last week, and then headed over to the grocery store to grab a fresh made salad for lunch and my inbox is slowly getting smaller :) We are heading into Christmas parties and skeleton staff season, so would like to get a leg up on it now so I can relax and enjoy the festivities once they arrive :)
All I have left to do is get a gift for the babysitter and wrap a few last things that are bigger! I have never been more prepared for Christmas in my life...feels good!
Hope everyone has a good Monday!
