Weekend Recap

I am so sad this weekend is over! I always look forward to having a house full of family--though I am also happy to have my house back to myself so I can get it looking normal and functional again!

Friday was spent wandering aimlessly around work for a good 3 hours. Our network went down in our building in the afternoon, so we had no access to emails/internet--which pretty much puts a halt on production here. Finally around 2:45 it came back, just in time for me to catch up on a few emails sent from people in other buildings during our black out. I headed out at 3:15 and picked up G's cookies from the bakery, went home and finished decorating before Ty got home with my little BB (Birthday Boy).

Saturday I was up bright and early, emptied the dishwasher, gave G a little morning snack and turned on cartoons (I wanted to make sure he didn't know what was up, I reallllllyyyy needed him to nap no problem, so our goal was to tucker him out that morning! hah). Ty hung out with G while I headed to pick up the salads and platters I had ordered. I came home , cleaned out the fridge to make room for it all ( my fridge has so many little compartments, it makes for very interesting placement of sandwich trays haha). Then we played. Hard. G went down for his nap at 11:40. People started arriving around 1 and birthday boy slept until 2:15 or so. Once he was up, the party could start. We ate some food, visited, opened gifts (which is the cutest thing to watch haha) and sang happy birthday off key.

Garett loves days where he is the center of everyone's attention. He was in his happy zone, that's for sure haha. He loves opening presents, and had many to open--he is such a lucky little boy. Everyone was gone before 6:00, so it gave me time to get some supper into G, clean up a bit, G got his bath and then we played with his new haul of toys. He did NOT want to go to bed that night--he faught me for about 45 seconds with crying in his bed when I put him in there. I knew he was toast though, from playing so much and was rubbing his eyes like crazy. Poor kid lol Tough life being a big two year old :)

Sunday we were up by 7:30, lounged in bed for a bit looking at story books, point out animals, playing games on the ipad. By 11:20 G was napping (for 3 hours), Ty headed out to work for the day/ part of the evening, so I managed to sneak in a little 30 minute snooze on the couch and watched a movie (I opted for a teenage romance--Monte Carlo, with Selena Gomez on Netflix --pretty good movie lol). I may or may not have had cake for lunch. G woke up and it was go-time. We played in the basement, we played on the mainfloor, we played in the upstairs living room, we played in his room, my room, the bathroom...he was everywhere. Three hour naps really rejuvenate little people! He pretty well constantly ate the rest of the day with his lunch and dinner tucked in there. Had his bath around 6:30, coloured our brains out, rode mommy around like a horsie and cuddled for a bit :) He really didn't want the party to stop--and brushed his teeth I think 5 times before he finally settled down in my bed watching Caillou--I put him down around 9 (late for him) and he cried for a minute and then I heard him let out a huge exaggerated yawn and he was off to sleepy-land.

We were in bed by around 10:30 and I woke up 8 minutes before my alarm went off. So I scrolled through facebook for a few minutes before getting up to start the day!

And, well...here I am. Facing another week right in the mouth. Looking into the tunnel, and not being able to see the light yet. I have a fun hangover from this weekend, and don't want it to be over. I loved having Caillou take over my house and hear Garett's little voice saying his name on repeat.

This weekend is another busy one coming up--G will be gone for a sleepover, and we are hosting Ty's birthday. Lots to do to get ready for that as well--but will pull through again :) After this, my cleaning and decorating/party organizing skills will be taking a small hiatus lol

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend--stay tuned for a post on G's birthday décor :)
