So this was a very short week for me.
Monday was a holiday and Tuesday/Wednesday I stayed home.
Thursday was my first go at the bus from Embrun to downtown where I work. It took a little over an hour. It really isn't that bad because you sit there and do nothing. But the rain made it seem a little worse. Though I do have the company of my sister-in-law the whole way :) I changed my work hours a bit more so we could take the same bus. It is fun! Though living in a different place may as well be a different country. I think we have both found the adjustment to be challenging.
I can't help but feel like everyone is staring at me, pointing me out as the noobie in the town. I know it looks like I don't belong there, right down to the car I drive (everyone there seems to have a truck of sorts). Once I get my Jeep I plan to buy eventually, I'll fit right in :)
Another thing I'm having trouble getting used to...manure. The smell of it lingers in the air near the park and ride and I am not a fan.
Also, the amount of dead cats I see on a weekly basis is not good for my mood. I saw a kitten on the side of the road scared out of his mind the other day. I pulled over and cried because I wanted to pick him up so bad--but I followed my brain that was saying 1)your husband will kill you, 2) what if it has fleas or rabbies? So I drove off and thought about it all day. On my way back into Ottawa I said to myself "If he's still there, I'll pick him up"...couldn't find him anywhere. Yesterday was a very sad day. I heard about it from Dolly first, then I saw it with my own two eyes. There, dead on the side of the road, was the little kitten I had wanted to save not more then a week earlier--in the exact same spot I had originally seen him cowering on the road. I would surely like to meet the person that ran him over. Needless to say, I bawled my eyes out all the way home and was not too friendly with Ty when I did get there. Something that will haunt my conscience for quite a while anyways---live and learn though--next time I know to stop and pick it up!!
Which brings me to my point: If you care enough to bring an animal into your life, please at least take care of it. Feed it, pet it, give it somewhere to sleep, make it feel loved and do NOT let it roam around on a busy highway. You treat a pet like you would treat your own child. Would you let your brand new baby outside by itself on a busy highway? no? Then DON'T let your kitten do it!
Anyways, enough with that rant :)
Tonight we were supposed to go out for dinner for a friends birthday but it was at 7:30pm in Gatineau, so, getting home shortly after 5 now means I would have had to get in my car and go right to town to shower and get ready (since the well is still not fixed completely), drive to Gatineau and home to Embrun right after dinner to be up for 5 or so tomorrow to get to Ottawa to finish sorting stuff for our yardsale. TOO much driving. Too much money in gas, etc for a 2 hour meal. We will have fun once everything is settled in in the house--I just can't happily give up hours of my life right now to do stuff when I know there is so much else that needs to be done. There's a glass of wine with my name on it when all of this is over :)
Anyways--not too much is new here! Same old, same old with the house stuff! Almost everything is painted at this point and almost everything is moved in as well..just waiting on the well before we can finish the bathroom which needs to be done before we can close in the basement ceiling stuff and before the carpet can go in...it's alllll about the well at this point in our life lol.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!!!!

  1. :( that's so sad about the kitten! I can see you now, on the side of the road crying :( poor little thing! I agree - if you're gonna have a pet, treat it properly, love it and don't let it outside on a busy road like that!!
