Weekend Recap
What a weekend !
I spent the good portion of the day on Friday cleaning and putting away laundry. Ty got home really early that day so he trimmed all the trees and all the garden around the house and mowed the lawn and resealed our back patio. I have to get out at some point today just to clean all the furniture off before we put the furniture back on the deck--not a problem since the little man not only loves when I lather him up with sunscreen, but he LOVES sitting in his seat outside. He loves looking around :)
We were in bed at a pretty decent hour on Friday night as we had to be up early (as usual) on Saturday. My parents came up to watch the boy while Ty and I and our friends Jeff and Leah headed to the Metcalfe Golf Club for 18 holes of golf. What a fun day! We laughed so much and had a great time. We played girls vs boys and one Marshall driving around kept asking who won (Tyler won the game but I think they cheated--girls should have won--they played from the brush a few times and we never did, so that doesn't add up lol). Stopped for some sandwiches halfway through and then we all headed back to our place after we were done.
My parents visited for a few minutes before taking off and then we ordered some subs from a place in town and bought the movie Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters on Apple TV. What a great movie! I wasn't sure I would like it ( I thought it would be on the scary side)...while it was kind of creepy and definitely NOT for children (lots of gore and vulgarity), it was a great story and very well played out! A definite buy if you haven't seen it yet.
After they got some cuddles in with Garett, they took off for the evening (around 6 LOL). It felt like midnight to us at this point since we were so pooped from the day so we took turns having a bath and laid in bed the rest of the night until we all fell asleep.
Sunday we were up early again, just tidying up a bit and playing with Garett. We had a small bite to eat and my parents were back up to watch Garett again (thank God for them :)). We had decided Sunday would be our date day for the preplanned June date since we didn't have any more free time this month! So when they got here, we headed out!
If you can recall from my Father's Day post, our June date was a visit to the Star Wars Identity Exhibition at the Aviation and Space museum and lunch at The Works.

If you can recall from my Father's Day post, our June date was a visit to the Star Wars Identity Exhibition at the Aviation and Space museum and lunch at The Works.
I hadn't anticipated the exhibition being very busy since I chose a date almost in the middle of it--but it was pretty packed! I guess my understanding of the popularity of the movies is a bit skewed LOL. But we arrived, and since I had already purchased our tickets, we didn't have to wait in that line :)
So we headed in, they scanned our tickets and they hand you an ear piece thing with a neck thing. This is for if you want to listen to the guided tour--we kept it on because you get some interesting facts and can listen to videos and stuff, but the second you step outside the boundaries of the one exhibit, you don't hear it anymore. Pretty cool! Here is Ty sporting his earpiece lol
The exhibit held some really cool stuff, that even I (not a huge star wars fan) enjoyed seeing! They had all the original costumes worn in the movies (I cannot believe how skinny the girls are--really puts things in perspective seeing them in person lol) and the actual pod racers and such--lots of sketches of what they had originally envisioned characters looking like, story boards, etc--pretty cool! Here's a few cool costumes:
They also give you a rubber like bracelet to wear. You use this to scan at each of the 10 stations located around the exhibit and answer questions as you choose what your star wars Identity will be. At the end of the exhibit, you enter this screen room, and you scan your bracelet again and your final character pops up. Ty and I obviously both chose to be bounty hunters, so we're dressed the same, but here are our finished products!
They also send you your profile by email with a picture of your character--I love how interactive it was! On the way out of the museum, we stopped in at the shop and bought Ty two shot glasses (one for the dark side and one for the good) for his collection and an M&M dispenser with the Yellow peanut M&M dressed as Darth Vader on top.
We took about an hour and a half in there, so it was still pretty early, so we took in the Euro Car Show they had outside--there was a 1990 Delorean which Ty wanted to go look at pretty bad, so we saw a few cool cars and headed out. We drove around our old neighbourhood in Manor Park to look at all the stuff they've done (tore down where we lived and put in new condos) and drove past his grandparents old house, etc reminiscing the whole time about our early dating days :) So sweet :)
After that, we decided to hit up a music store, buy some bass strings and some clarinet reeds for me, then headed to Bou Clair Home and bought some new wicked lamps for our night stands and then went to Winners to shop for whatever--ended up buying a few things and some books for Garett. By this time, we were pretty hungry, so we headed to The Works in Manor Park.
We decided to start off with a pint--Ty had something squirrel (I forget lol) and I had a Moosehead--in hindsight, we should have left them out because once the food came we barely touched them--we both left about half of them behind lol...but it was nice to have a few sips on the patio :)
We ordered some deep fried pickles (a new fav of ours) as an appetizer--Ty got the curry mayo and I got chipolte mayo to dip them in (holy, burn my face off hot!) But they were so good!
We each ordered our food (no pic sorry lol---I had a chicken burg and Ty had a regular beef one). We ordered some milkshakes to go as our dessert and we paid and headed out!
We got to visit for a few minutes anyways before my parents took off to go home home again and then we played a bit on the floor with the babes and brought him to the bedroom and cuddled and played a bit more before he went to sleep. We stayed up to watch that guy cross the Grand Canyon with no tether....craziness! I think we both didn't breathe for 22 solid minutes, it was so scary and intense!! Plus, the French people were shooting off fireworks pretty well in our backyard for St. Jean Baptist day and it was so loud and made it even more intense LOL
But all in all, a fantastic weekend--couldn't have asked for much more :) We cannot wait to open the July date now! I have Ty completely hooked, I will have to do this for the rest of our lives now haha.
I hope you all enjoyed your weekend! Now let's keep our fingers crossed that next weekend is nice outside :) Have a great Monday, everyone!!
Good to know about the exhibit! I think Casey and I might head out and see what it's all about it...I'm not a fan either but if you liked it, I'm hoping I'll have the same experience! Deep fried pickles have been one of our faves for a while - they're SO GOOD!!!
ReplyDeleteFor sure chek it out, it was pretty cool seeing all the actual stuff they used! Definitely buy the tickets online before you go or you have to wait in line for the next slot in a different building and run over to the other building for the exhibit ! It's worth the $2.00 online convenience fee and the tickets are only $25 a piece:) enjoy!
