Canada Day Weekend Recap
I don't even know where to begin with the weekend events.
Friday night, we were relaxing around the house with the babes, getting salads ready for the next day and we get a phone call from Rod. They had been on Facebook and saw my most recent pic of the little man and decided they wanted some God son time. So out to Embrun they came :) We stayed up fairly late chatting (Garett went to bed at 9:30 and we didn't hear a peep from him until the next morning).

So out to Embrun they came :) We stayed up fairly late chatting (Garett went to bed at 9:30 and we didn't hear a peep from him until the next morning).
When we got up, I just finished tidying up a bit and setting up the Canada Day stuff (set the table, put up the banners in the backyard, wiped down the patio furniture, etc) and got our chocolate fountain up and running! My family came over that afternoon and we bbq'd but ate inside since the cushions were still a bit wet from the torrential downpour we got the day before. It was a wonderful afternoon with visiting and laughter :) I love when we can all get together like that!
After they left, we cleaned up, and then went almost right to bed and hung out in there with snacks and tv movies.
Here's Garett all ready to party with family :)
We were up early on Sunday as well and running errands to the store. I had to make a bit more potato salad, get the choc fountain cleaned and running again and all the stuff set up and put out again. People started coming around 4. In total, about 13 people came out to celebrate with us. It was SUCH a good time. It has been so long since we've all gotten together--and my mother in law helped so much but cleaning all the dishes and putting food away so we could just enjoy (god bless her!). Garett was down for the count at 8pm and he didn't even flinch until 5:30 for his morning bottle (I cannot believe he slept through the fireworks we put off around 10). He is such a good boy!
The girls stayed up MUCH longer than we should have, but it was such a good time and I didn't want it to end. I paid for the late night on Monday and we just sort of hung out on the floor with Garett eating and napping all day lol (I love those kind of days though). We got the house all cleaned up that afternoon and are ready for the week ahead!
We have lots of rain in the forecast for this week again (sigh) so it will likely be a pretty low key week, since we have another pretty busy weekend coming with a trip to brockville for a late Canada day party with the family of the guitarist in Ty's new band. It will be a fun afternoon for the kiddies with them getting up to play a few songs and then heading home that night---and sunday will be a wedding shower for my sister in law :) Seems the weekends are pretty packed these days--but that's summer for ya!
I hope everyone enjoyed Canada's big birthday! Enjoy your 4 day work week as a present from Canada :)
Happy Tuesday!
Thanks for having us over!! We had a blast! Need to get together more often xox
