Valentine's Day
I'm not a typical "woman" on Valentine's Day. I don't expect big expensive gifts. I don't expect breakfast in bed, or to be catered to all day. Sure I enjoy each and every one of those things, but Valentine's is not the time I appreciate them the most. I expect to be LOVED everyday. And that's not too much to ask when you have a wonderful husband and the best little guy ever.
Instead, I like to use Valentine's day to treat my man well. He is so good at trying to show me his appreciation through the year, but I am too caught up in the little things to reciprocate the appreciation. Too many times I just say "thanks" in passing if he brushes my car off for me, or to focus on the negatives and dwell on those (leaving dirty clothes in the kitchen, dirty dishes on the nightstand, etc). On my goal to become a more positive person, I need to embrace being more appreciative each and everyday. But since tomorrow is valentine's day, I will draw attention to my appreciation!
Since Tyler has had to work late two nights in a row (9:30 last night and will be almost 10:30 when he gets home tonight), he will have a nice relaxing day off tomorrow, at home with G and I!
I am going to run out to the grocery store during G's nap and get stuff to make a few of Ty's favourites. All I know is icewine will be involved (his fav sippy sip wine). I also found a killer recipe for spicy crab cakes with a nice Remoulade--so those will be the appetizers. He has been wanting to have beef wellington for a dogs age--and I hate cooking it--but perhaps that will be the main. Perhaps homemade banana splits for dessert. G will get his favourite as well--some kind of pesto dish and ice cream for dessert.
I will buy a new movie for us to watch on apple tv. I will draw him a bath (with the good aromatherapy essential oils and candles--since ALL men DO love this, even if they don't say they do lol), and I will maybe even rub his shoulders.
Since we all know life with a 2 year old can derail plans--let it be known that these are the things I WANT to do tomorrow for the love of my life. I will report back on if it was achieved :)

Last night, I got home and discovered that the furnace was not working. I tried my hardest to get it to work again, but it was not an Amy job. Tyler had our technician come out and fix it--he got there around 8. The 16 degree house was soon a 24 degree house (too hot), and we were happy people again!
I got up late this morning, as I wanted to take G to daycare today so Ty could head into town and snowplow his moms driveway while they are away. I got to see G hand out his valentine's loot bags (the kids were so excited about loot bags lol), and to give his babysitter her gift. Then I got a little half wave from G ,and I said by to everyone as they were starting to make Valentine's cookies..I didn't want to leave, but I had a lot of work to catch up on before the end of the day today, so off I went!
I also got surprised by a beautiful floral arrangement on the kitchen table that my husband surprised me with for Valentines. With a card that said "Punkin, you are the love of my LIFE". So sweet. Such a beautiful arrangement, so I had the time to top up the water and find a good spot for them. Will share pictures of them later as well :)
I went to Target at lunch yesterday --yes , the sales are no good. But they also don't close until May. I just really needed a new lamp shade--the other one got wrecked in the move. I love the one I got--I also picked up some double sided funky crayons for G, a primitive chalkboard thing for the kitchen, a beautiful wooden picture frame for our new family photo, a really nice Laura Secord chocolate basket for the babysitter for V-day/card/bow. I will still miss their selection--as I find their stuff is of much better quality than Walmart, but I guess not enough people cared about that!
I also added a little craft Garett made at daycare to my little whiteboard/holiday decoration area. Will share a picture later as well :) Makes the office feel more like home!
The drive in later this morning was awesome! I thought that it would be crazy busy rush hour traffic (and it was in the downtown core), but my exit was free and clear..it was just starting to clog up right after my exit! Woohoo!
Hopefully everyone has a wonderful weekend! Enjoy the love that comes from parents, significant others, children, friends! (though everyday should be valentine's day :)).
