Thoughts on Thursday
I love when I witness "firsts". First step, first word, first time tasting new things, etc. Last night, I crossed another off of the list.
We got home a couple minutes early compared to normal, and immediately there was a mad dash to the backyard. Garett would live outside if I let him. I swear he was a bush baby in his past life. So we played outside for quite a while. Since our lawn got sprayed the other day, everything is shooting up so fast. Ty hasn't had a chance to mow the lawn (the tractor is in the shop and it takes quite a while to mow by hand), so there were quite a few Dandelions poking out. This excited Garett. "FLOWERS!!!", he exclaimed. And since he is so young, I won't correct him by saying "No, those are just yucky weeds that I want gone ASAP" lol...but instead, I watched his tiny hands carefully select a small bouquet of "FLOWERS FOR MOMMMMMYYY!!!" (Notice how everything he says is in caps? That's because he screams everything outside out of excitement). I collected them, and then he insisted on carrying them...but put them into the yard waste bag on the way in (what a good boy). So, the dandelions were picked, but never made it into the house. Win/win!
Once we got in, I made a little snack plate. He chowed down and asked "Mommy, I paint?". So we chose the paint colours he needed (he was a big fan of black yesterday--usually it's blue, yellow and green). He chose to paint with a sponge brush instead of his regular paint brush. Every line he draws he says "Cat!". He loves to pretend to draw/paint/colour cats. One time, he actually came close to the shape of one. Perhaps he will be a prodigy artist :)

After that, we got washed up. We emptied the dishwasher, handing me one plate at a time (this takes about 10 times as long as it would if I just did it myself--but it's fun to have a helper). I loaded it up with another load, got that started, put on some Curious George and started supper. While I was cooking and G was more than occupied playing and watching his movie, I cleaned out the pantry. Am I the only one that feels like I need to pre-emptively clean the house before people come over? Specifically people that are coming to appraise how much cleaning they will need to do? Like why wouldn't I leave it the way it is so they can gauge properly. But I want every area to be totally organized for when they come on Wednesday to check it out. Letting go of this duty might be harder than I anticipated! But the reality stands of not having enough time. The pantry alone took me 40 minutes, and I swept the kitchen, scrubbed the counters down, and then it was time to serve supper and clean up the dishes after. I didn't even get to touch mopping or clean any other rooms.
After dinner, Tyler and I decided to sneak in a quick episode of "The 100"--Tyler didn't like how this episode ended, so I hope I can keep him watching the show lol. They killed off a main character 4 episodes in, and it bothered him, because it was one of the only characters Tyler actually liked haha. I think it's still good :)
Then it was quick bath time and straight to bed. G was pooped out and was in bed by 8:25. Tyler snuck in some video games, and I watched some Drop Dead Diva--I am almost done season 4 and I am sad with the direction the show is taking. I'm hoping it gets more upbeat before the finale, and before I start season 5 lol.
I laid out my clothes for today, brushed my teeth and curled up into bed. Ty and I cuddled and chatted for about 10 minutes before we both fell asleep mid-sentence haha.
This morning's air almost took my breath away! It was a crisp 2 degrees when I left the house this morning at 6:15. Brrr!!! But going up to 20 today--so another day of G dressing like it's winter in the morning and fall in the afternoon! haha
Last night, we set up for Garett to spend Saturday night at Tyler's moms house. She has been wanting to see him lately, and we have no time to get around, so we decided to make a date night out of it :) We might catch up with a friend couple later on in the night as well to make it a double date :) I am already sad about leaving my boy for the evening though--I know it's good for us, and good for him to get away here and there--I know it's unhealthy to spend every waking moment with him, but I just miss him so much when he's not attached to my hip!! He's become like another appendage on my body; attached directly to my heart.
It's also within three weeks of me going away for two nights for girls weekend, and I feel guilty with it being that close lol. Oh well! This momma will have to loosen the reigns a little at a time I guess!
Long weekend coming up!!! I totally forgot about it until this morning. Nice surprise :)
Tomorrow night we are heading to my mother in laws for mother's day dinner. It doesn't make sense to have her make dinner on mother's day--I told Tyler we should not go tomorrow night, but should take her out for brunch on Sunday instead after we pick Garett up, when we are already in town....but no one else seems to agree this is a more logical plan, instead of us driving home from work, and back into town, and then home again tomorrow night lol. Silly men.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Thursday, and that you get to go out and enjoy the beautiful weather! I know I will definitely be going for a walk at lunch today :)
