Wednesday Rambles
Potty training. I don't have the foggiest idea on where to start. Garett is obviously ready; which is just another way in which he is teaching me. I ask myself time and time again, "HOW did I get so lucky?" He never stops making me do double takes, from having to pick my jaw up off the floor, or tear up with pride.
Yesterday was one of those moments.
Remember how I said in my post yesterday that he asked to use the potty? Well last night, he just whipped out his skill of being totally potty trained.
As soon as we got home, he pulled off his pants, ripped off his diaper and went straight for the potty. He had a big pee. I was in utter shock. Ummmm...wtf? When the heck did you get so big, bud!!?! I decided to take this opportunity to let him run around diaper-free for an hour. In this time, he peed in the potty 3 more times on his own without prompting. Each time with a bigger smile on his face than the last. We would empty the contents of the potty together in the toilet, and wash his hands with his special "I went on the potty" soap. Finally, when I was convinced this kid wasn't having any accidents that night, I threw on some big boy underwear. Well, didn't he love the idea of that more than running around Au Natural. He peed in the potty a few more times, enjoying the ability to pull down and up his very own pair of big boy underwear! He was successful at staying dry and only using the potty for the entire evening. We only used one diaper last night--the one we put on him to go to bed. What a kid!...let's see if it was a fluke last night, or if he keeps it up tonight :) If he potty trained himself, I will be one happy momma to not have to deal with that.
To top the evening off, my new bedding was brought home yesterday by Tyler. I was so excited to see 1) him walk in so early, and 2) him walk in carrying my bedding. I flip flopped so much about what bedding to get--and I like this one a lot--I think I will grow to love it. It's the closest to love I came when shopping for new master bedroom bedding! Garett helped me pull off the sheets and helped me mess up the bed as soon as it was made. We did a bunch of laundry, and he helped me put some away--handing me one piece at a time. (I wish that was my job in putting away laundry, lol).
I realized the cats were running out of food, so I left G and Ty to play, and I headed to the store. I drove there with the windows down, and it was SO nice. I bought some cat food, sour cream (for the Taquitos I was dreaming of devouring), some more smiley face potatoes for G (this is what he asked for when I asked what he wanted from the store lol), and some gourmet soups (we are getting pretty sick of cream of mushroom--our little boss LOVES cream of mushroom, so it's the only soup we have in the house aside from the ones I cook with ). So I bought some butternut squash and a roasted red pepper and tomato soup (which is what we ate last night). I poured a fruity glass of wine, ate a bowl of soup, and then ate some taquitos.
We watched the first episode in season 2 of Brooklyn 99 while G ate his dinner. He snacked a lot last night, and played strictly with his little kitchen--so I brought it down to the living room so he could be in the room with us instead of up in his playroom.
G was in bed by 8:45, and we stayed up until about 10:30 talking, watching TV and catching up on social media. We also booked our hotel for 3 nights in Montreal in July, and planned our trip to B.C. in September as our anniversary trip/to catch the closing concert of Toto (this is only a two-nighter trip). With the resort membership we bought while we were in Dominican, we get deals on everything--and we have travel rewards through Tyler's work credit card--it's hard to keep up with the travel rewards we get; which is a problem I don't mind having. We might also use a few of our free nights from our membership package in Tremblant this summer, and bring G along). It will be nice to take him somewhere as a first time away, and still be close to home in case he doesn't cope well, or if something happened. This will help us see how he is at hotels!
Garett was up at 5:45 today, and came up into our bed between us and watched cartoons until we all got up to get ready at 6:10. It was a nice drive in--but it looks pretty gloomy. Calling for even more rain today, and possible thunderstorms. Hopefully the rain and storms are done before this evening. I would like to bbq some homemade hamburgers tonight! We haven't had any burgers yet! I have to pop in for a quick set of groceries this evening, and if it's nice out, G and Ty can play outside while I whip up some burgers. I wish we could control the weather! lol
My Director is out of the office on travel today, so I assume it will be pretty quiet. It's one of the girls from works last day on Friday, so we are getting lunch everyday--Friday will be a Lonestar day. Will be sad to see her go.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday--I can't believe the week is half over already! It's going so quick this week!
