Easter weekend recap--better late than never!!

Image
Our Easter weekend was pretty tame! Tyler had the home show all weekend, so Friday was G and I hanging out. Daddy was home fairly late, but garett managed to stay up to say goodnight.   Saturday my dad was up here bright and early, and took g and I to the home show to see Tyler's booth. Once we visited there a bit, we headed to cornwall for our family dinner, an egg hunt, gifts, lots of playing , and then came home. Tyler was home early, so we all got to visit for a few minutes, had dinner, and called it an early night.  G wanted to sleep with the eggs he found at Pa's house, lol Garett had a rough night. He was up quite a few times, until 11 or so. Then woke up at 7 on Sunday, and insisted we do our hunt! So up we got. He found 4 dozen eggs In probably 15 mins lol he's an amazing hunter!! At the end, the Easter bunny left a bunch of loot: -magnetic rub a dub bath boats  - some more tools for his growing collection -an ottawa mini hockey stick  - a plush lobster Velc...

New house

Well, it's done. It has been for about a week, but being a bad blogger to begin with, didn't help the speed at which I posted this :) We moved on Saturday March 19, started at around 9:30 am. I went and picked up a take 12, donuts, muffins for the boys. Lots of men helped, so really sped things up.  Around 11:30, I headed into town to the new place to meet my mother in law and some of her sisters to clean the new place a bit (wiped down cupboards pretty much). And I locked the cats up in the ensuite with everything they needed for the next few hours. The truck showed up not long after, and everything was unloaded by around 4pm. We ordered pizza for everyone, and I sat and visited with some pee for a while, then unpacked all the kitchen stuff (dishes, cookware, etc) as well as got the main family room set up a bit so we had a place to sit. Once everyone left, Tyler assembled Garett's furniture and we were in bed pretty early. Internet and cable were hooked up while we were m...

The classiest day of the year

The roads were pretty empty on the way into work today--which means, I am NOT looking forward to the ride home today, since everyone will be out and about on their way to their St. Patty's destinations. I don't trust the roads on days like today. Here's a few rules for the day to all you folks heading out: 1) MOST IMPORTANT: Stay safe. Be responsible. If you're going to drink, PLEASE do not drive. You take other peoples lives into your hands when you get behind the wheel drunk, and if it's anyone I loves lives you take, your life will in turn be in my hands :) You can also book some services in advance if you don't want to wait 3 hours for a cab/bus later. Know your limits, and give yourself a cut off time. 2) Stay classy. No one likes the person grinding up on the microphone poles, or puking in the washroom and then close-talking to everyone for the rest of the night. Just go home if you have reached this level of intoxication. 3) Have at least one gree...

Quick 20 week pregnancy update

How far along? 20 weeks today. How big is the peanut? At my ultrasound on Thursday March 10, baby was 9oz and 6 inches long, with a BPM of 141. According to the beloved internet, baby would be about 10.5 ounces now and 6.5 inches--the size of a banana from head to bum. Total weight gain/loss? down to around -6 lbs since beginning of the pregnancy (I had gained .5lbs at my last appointment) Maternity clothes? Not yet. My pants still fit comfortably. A few pairs are still a bit big. but the longer I can put it off the better..will be living in dresses and sandals soon! Sleep? Not ideal. It's like a curse. A wonderful sleeping toddler. A husband that sleeps like a dead person. But me? Peeing constantly, and can't fall asleep. If something wakes me up in the middle of the night, it's all over. I just stay up until it's time for work because it's impossible to get back to sleep. Grrrr. I'm a light sleeper to begin with though usually, so that's probably...

My how the weekends have changed

Not too much to report on from this weekend! Friday night we had our friends (G's Godparents) over for dinner. We made up a board of different cheeses, meats, bread (with olive oil and balsamic), crackers, grapes, and then ordered in some dinner later on from a place in the next little town over. Garett was having a blast eating and playing/visiting, but headed to bed at 8:45 exhausted. Rod and Sharon stayed until around 11:30 and headed out to go home. Tyler, who has been on the pregnant lady bandwagon and hasn't been drinking, had split a bottle of red wine with them while eating the cheese and was reminded of his age when he woke up feeling a little bit "tired". But sucked it up and packed up the garage, patched the rest of the screw holes upstairs, and cleaned the two bathrooms while I packed up most of the clothes, did laundry, and sorted through baby things we won't need now that we're having a girl. Tyler had a gig that evening, so headed out around...

FRIDAY

Finishing off the longest week in the history of my life. I left work yesterday around noon, and was forced to wait until the ultrasound office came back from lunch. This is not an easy feat with a full bladder. The technician ALWAYS comments on how full my bladder is, lol. Baby was not being overly cooperative at either end yesterday--we got the measurements of the spine, brain, leg bones, all of the organs, etc fine. But when it came to nose/lips, hands, feet, and gender: a little more difficult. We attempted the gender first. It took a few minutes but the technician FINALLY got a shot--Girl! She had her legs closed/crossed the entire time--which apparently is common for females ( I made a comment about how easy Garett's identification was because he was spread eagle for us. She said females often lock their legs so we can't get a good look). Then she tried for the facial measurements and hands--baby girl also kept her hands up over her eyes most of the time. In true Pate...

It's a girl !!

We were mildly shocked, and totally excited. It's a GIRL.  Little angel princess will be spoiled something fierce, and I CANNOT wait !!

Gender Prediction

I thought it would be fun to go through a little quiz thing of gender predictions to see where I am on the spectrum this time, and see how accurate it is for this baby after we find out today! For the record, every prediction thing except one said Garett was a girl--so that goes to show you how effective these are , lol! So just for fun :) 1. Have you had trouble deciding on baby names?  X  We agree on girl names, but not on boy names. We agree on boy names, but not on girl names. We've had no trouble agreeing on names 2. What types of food have you been craving? Candy, cookies and everything sweet.  X   Lemons, pickles, yogurt and other sour foods. I haven't had many food cravings. 3. Is the daddy gaining weight along with you?  X  Yes. No. He'll never tell! 4. Do you find yourself craving more protein than before? No. Bread, fruit and snack foods, but rarely protein.  X  Yes. Meat and cheese are my new favo...

Friday Eve

This week is going by at a snails pace. I know it's because we had today to look forward too, and when I get excited like a kid on Christmas Eve, it makes time pass SO SO SO SO slowly. Last night was crazy hectic. I guess not really, but I was feeling particularly tired, and Garett was SO into playing with us last night--usually we play for a bit before dinner, he plays alone a bit after, we do bath time, and play a bit before bed, but last night was constant stimulation. He was a big help though when I was packing boxes in the kitchen, and then he sat and ate some frozen yogurt and watched some shows on the ipad at the kitchen table while I did the bigger stuff! I managed to get three more kitchen boxes packed--I might have one or two more and then I'm done the kitchen (other than the food, ugh). We also moved almost all of Garett's toys up to his toy room, so we can start sticking them into Rubbermaids. He certainly doesn't need all of his toys out for the next 9 da...

Frantic weeknights

Ah, in the comfort of my office again. Where I find my serenity and peace...sometimes. Being at work so early before everyone else, I am able to catch up from the day before, and get ready for my day ahead, for both work and home life. The desk where endless to-do lists are made for everything life encompasses! Yesterday I finally acknowledged that I wouldn't be able to make it to Toys R Us before my nephews birthday party, so I sucked it up and ordered it online (hoping it's delivered by Friday! lol), and tossed a few other things in the cart for Garett's big Easter gift at the end of his hunt. I also ordered the Bissell CleanView Deluxe Pet Rewind upright canister vacuum. Hopefully it lasts the little while we live in the new place for--and I love that it has a really neat pet hair attachment for furniture and curtains! Tyler also managed to get the materials for his new Cliffrock stuff ordered, so that he can build the outdoor kitchens/firepits, etc for the homeshow ov...

Weekend Recap-Boys day and house stuff

Good Monday morning! So begins one of the more exciting weeks ever! Not only does today mark 19 weeks (about halfway there--I consider today to be halfway, since I will probably not go right on my due date again this time around!), but also Thursday we find out the gender of the baby--let the shopping begin!!! I am ready! lol Friday night we looked at a few more houses after work. I was supposed to meet Tyler at his store at 2:30, so we could get through the 7 houses. I was a little early, and Tyler ran a little late. He rolled up in his brand new 2016 ford truck. We had a new grey ford, but this one is a lot more truck (more features, and only had 14 km on it when he arrived to get me)..so he couldn't walk away from the deal. So, we drove around looking at houses and enjoying the first thing to have gone "right" in about three weeks. While we were out and about, Garett stayed at daycare for taco night. We picked him up around 5:15 and headed home. We just ate random ...

Point Form

- It's Friday (thought I would state the obvious, because I am quite excited). - For reasons outside of our control, the house situation has not been solved yet, and we have to look at houses tonight. We have 6 on the agenda so far. I have to leave work at 2 today, pack the houses in and go get Garett afterwards. Daycare has graciously offered to watch him as late as we need her tonight so we can get it sorted out! She's going to get a BIG going away present :( -Tomorrow we are going to go out for breakfast/brunch and then after nap time, the boys are heading over to Cosmic Adventures (Ty and G are meeting up with one of our friends and his son a little older than G, and one a little younger than G). Mommies are not invited, so I booked a nice long pedicure at my spa of choice :) I will also run some errands if I wish. -Sunday I will spend cleaning and packing. -Last night I took down most of the wall décor on the main floor. We are going to take all the screws out and ...
