The classiest day of the year
The roads were pretty empty on the way into work today--which means, I am NOT looking forward to the ride home today, since everyone will be out and about on their way to their St. Patty's destinations. I don't trust the roads on days like today.
Here's a few rules for the day to all you folks heading out:
1) MOST IMPORTANT: Stay safe. Be responsible. If you're going to drink, PLEASE do not drive. You take other peoples lives into your hands when you get behind the wheel drunk, and if it's anyone I loves lives you take, your life will in turn be in my hands :) You can also book some services in advance if you don't want to wait 3 hours for a cab/bus later. Know your limits, and give yourself a cut off time.
2) Stay classy. No one likes the person grinding up on the microphone poles, or puking in the washroom and then close-talking to everyone for the rest of the night. Just go home if you have reached this level of intoxication.
3) Have at least one green beer. Even if you hate beer. It's tradition.
4) Everyone will claim to be Irish today. Just go with the flow and pretend along with them.
5) If you don't have on a funny shirt, oversized hat, tie,bowtie, glasses, etc --something amusing, GTFO.
6) Dance to at least one Irish song.
7) Participate in at least one Irish drinking song/game.
8) Thank your servers, bartenders, cab drivers, etc--I can't imagine a worse job than theirs today.
9) Wear lots of deodorant. Places get jam packed today, starting very early--no one wants to be shoulder to shoulder with B.O central.

Love No. 9 - unfortunately, I don't do any celebrating on the day of and actually I didn't even really celebrate this past weekend (other than a tea haha)...but someday maybe...or not. I will go and do groceries...I remember my days of bar hopping when I was younger to step dance....great times!
ReplyDeleteIt's been a few years since I got to do the bar thing too :( Oh well! I always prefer staying home anyways, lol..or going out for an hour, and getting sick of the crowds and then going to someones house instead. We're getting old :( haha
