Weekend Recap-Boys day and house stuff

Good Monday morning!

So begins one of the more exciting weeks ever! Not only does today mark 19 weeks (about halfway there--I consider today to be halfway, since I will probably not go right on my due date again this time around!), but also Thursday we find out the gender of the baby--let the shopping begin!!! I am ready! lol

Friday night we looked at a few more houses after work. I was supposed to meet Tyler at his store at 2:30, so we could get through the 7 houses. I was a little early, and Tyler ran a little late. He rolled up in his brand new 2016 ford truck. We had a new grey ford, but this one is a lot more truck (more features, and only had 14 km on it when he arrived to get me)..so he couldn't walk away from the deal. So, we drove around looking at houses and enjoying the first thing to have gone "right" in about three weeks. While we were out and about, Garett stayed at daycare for taco night. We picked him up around 5:15 and headed home. We just ate random stuff around the house. Since G-man was full, we just made whatever we each wanted. There's so much food in the house, and we are moving so soon that we are really trying to put a dent in it, and failing miserably!

Saturday we were all up bright and early, put away laundry, cleaned up a bit, etc. The boys headed into town to pick up the Brier tickets Tyler won, get the money for Costco that Ty got for buying the new truck (two more things that have gone right, now!), and we met at a place to look at at 1pm. It was horribly small and under renovations, so we walked out and decided on another place immediately. I headed over to the spa for my extra long luxury pedicure (I picked "Asphalt" as my colour because I'm still feeling wintery--or it's because I long to see what driveways and grass look like again! lol).  Afterwards, I stopped and picked up a quick lunch for myself, headed home and relaxed. The boys were having a boys day at Cosmic Adventures, and Ty and G-man had been looking forward to their alone time all week :) Ty sent me a few pictures of him playing in the gyms. They stopped for a bite to eat after, and when they came home, Garett came blasting up the stairs to show me the entry bracelet he got and to tell me all about the slides and ball pits, etc. I think he had fun ;) When we move to town, we will buy a membership for him, since parents also have to pay to get in, if we went three times in a year, it would be worth it! I smell a birthday party there in the future :)

Since the boys only got home around 4:30, we ordered in pizza (UGH, we should have made food at home! I am seriously stressed about the food level in the fridge/freezers) and watched a movie as a family. Garett was in bed quite early since he hadn't napped.

He is in a weird in between phase right now (Garett) of not needing the nap, but also not being able to last until his usualy bedtime without getting so groggy around 7. That last 1.5 hour push in the day is brutal for now. Poor boy. He will get used to it. But happy to announce he is totally off the bottle--this is a huge accomplishment for him! He loved that bottle SO much. But enough was enough. One day Tyler told them he threw them all out, we read the "No more bottles for Bunny" book I ordered off Amazon, and now he says bottles are for baby bunnies! lol

We were all in bed by 9 on Saturday night--we're cool like that.

Sunday we were all up at 6:30 and ready to head into town. We signed the papers for the house at 10, and then headed to the Kozy Nest for breakfast. The original plan was to go to the sugar bush, and then the one in Orleans apparently sucks really bad, so we plan on going to the one out by us before we move. Then we decided to go bowling. Then once we got in the truck and started driving there, guess who decided to pass out? So we figured we should give him the time to rest, he had a pretty exciting weekend already, so we will go next weekend, and let him sleep. He was out cold all the way home. He laid in his bed after we got home (quiet , but not sleeping) for about 15 minutes and then we were up and at-'em again. Garett helped me pack up all of the decorations, took down the rest of the wall décor with daddy while I put the screws in their own labelled baggies, and helped me switch some loads of laundry over. I also packed a few kitchen boxes and called it a night.
Aunt Dolly and Bryson headed over for a quick visit--Garett received another lesson in sharing--and then we just relaxed the rest of the evening with some toys, books, tv and a nice dinner.

Today I had big plans. I made up my new self-imposed budget--since we want to look into maybe building, I am not sure how much money we will need in the end, and if we have to carry two home payments in the meantime, we should start hoarding away, I think? I have no idea--definitely a chat with the financial planner and mortgage people in the future coming our way, but want to get all settled in first!

On the opposite end of that spectrum, I ordered a nice new vacuum online, since the new place doesn't have central vac, but the upstairs bedroom areas are all carpeted. So once we get in, we will have two weeks with both houses--I want to shampoo and vacuum the carpet well, paint all the walls, put up all new curtain rods and curtains, new shower rods and curtains, and THEN move everything in and decorate/unpack. Its going to be quite the process, but I am excited!

I emailed both daycares last night to let them know we have accelerated the move a bit. We are hoping for a hard moving date of March 19, which would make March 18 (instead of March 30) Garett's last day at his current daycare, and March 24--or 29th (instead of April 4) as his first day in the new daycare. So all is ok with leaving early from his current daycare, but our new provider just has to check with her current parent about moving the dates. If not, we will figure something out for those few days in between, no big deal---literally the smallest fish we have frying right now lol.

We added a new top boys name to the list last night, so we have two strong lists now, and two nursery décor/baby needs lists to pull the trigger on come Thursday!

Things are coming together nicely :) And I don't intend to wish time away, but with each day closer to April, comes a little more stress relief!!

How was everyone else's' weekend? Happy Monday!

    1. Thank you! If not, I am making an appointment at the 3D place near Greenbank. You have to pay, but at least I will know either way this week! lol

  2. I'm buying that book too. We're weaning Rylie off her bottles shortly. She currently only gets the bottle at bedtime now but even then, she's asked for her "cuppy" instead!
OOOHH!! What kind of vacuum did you buy?
I can't wait to find out of Baby Wood will be a boy or girl (I'm thinking boy though!)

    1. It's a cute book! The pictures are a tad boring, but the message is good!
Definitely get off the bottles/soothers as quickly as possible, we won't make the same mistake with the next babe. Once they're old enough to know the routine, it makes it so hard to get off of. I guess we were doing ok though with just the bottle--he never got onto soothers or sucking his thumb or anything, so I credit that to having the bottle for so long. Also, it was hard to get G into a routine where he wasn't starving in the middle of the night. The bottle was helping that for a long time and we got too comfortable! But he's in a good routine now with dinner and snacks that he doesn't wake up hungry, thank god.
You will all know in 4 or 5 days! :) I am on the fence now--I am so back and forth that it will be a genuine surprise either way lol! Pretty exciting :)
