Weekend Recap

I am currently yawning my face off--I got plenty of sleep this weekend, but there was so much running around, I am just pooped. It was VERY tempting to stay home today. But, here I am--dedication at its best ;)

Friday was a fast day--I don't know where the time went, but it just flew right on by. When I hunker down to catch up on work, it goes really fast :)

Tyler was coming home earlier than usual, and I decided Friday I wasn't going to cook..so we ordered Chinese food, had a Somersby, watched G play and put on a Christmas movie. Soon enough it was bath time for the boy, and straight to bed. He was very tired on Friday.

Saturday we were up fairly early (7 I think) and cleaned up a bit around the house--G went down for his nap early and I was thrilled. While he napped, I loaded up some toys, diapers, pjs, food for G and when he got up, I got him dressed and into town we went. Last year we went to St. Laurent to see Santa for pictures, this year we went to Place D'orleans thinking it would be nicer and less busy..wrong and wronger. I hate the background they had..just plain red, with a red seat and yellow pillows?? Like maybe change your decorations to be nicer. We will go back to St. Laurent next year--with the nice big velour "throne". We also had to wait for numerous families to take pictures..crying kids, pouty kids..one after the other ahead of us. I even saw Santa roll his eyes one time. I think I was the only one that saw him, and really, I can't blame the guy...kids were being such little jerks right in front of him...At this point, I am praying to God that G continues clapping and laughing and not crying or ripping off his beard..

We get him out of the stroller and he is laughing and smiling..seems excited to meet Santa. The SECOND he is placed on his knee, he totally shut down. He buried his chin into his chest (so, so painfully shy looking it was cute), but the people with the camera had an elmo puppet, so he at least looked up for that. But in all 6 pictures they took, this boy looked like he meant business haha. I almost picked the picture of him putting his chin to chest, but thought I would rather see his whole face haha...so cute. Santa laughed at him and told him he was a good boy and gave him a little countdown calendar thing...he was back to laughing...so strange.

Sorry for the quality of this...I took a picture of the picture and it's a glossy photo so the light is glaring off of it..

After we had the picture taken, we decided to hit up New York Fries instead of going out somewhere else. G was in heaven. He ate almost an entire jumbo hot dog (no bun, and cut up..but he ate it so fast)...so I needed to eat something , and since he just ate my food, I went to A&W and ordered two more smaller hotdogs..he ate half of one and I ate one and Ty ate the other half of the second one...he also devoured an entire cup of juice and some water...I swear, everytime this kid eats, it looks like we never feed him haha.

After that, we were off to daddy's store to take in the Parade. Since the road was closing a bit before the parade, we decided to just play in there instead of trekking around other places. So he kept himself pretty busy playing with some of the miniature figurines (so cute that he plays with imagination now) , and all the markers laying around.

Then other kids showed up, and it was game over. He wanted nothing to do with me, but just wanted to run around with the other kids..which is really cute...but he's still at the age I have to follow him around everywhere..I was pooped. He finally started settling down (which is hard to do with a huge space to run around and so many kids to play with!), and the parade was starting. We bundled up and went out for a bit, but he refused to keep his mitts on, and didn't like having the blanket over him in the stroller, so we came inside and played instead. I put his PJ's on him (it was shortly after 7 at this point), so I also heated up his rice and broccoli and he ate that like a champ, sitting on the couch watching a movie. Then him and our friends daughter discovered the laptop..

We all stood in the window to wave at Santa when he finally went by (G almost missed him haha) and then the road was open again, so off we went...G passed out in the car, woke up momentarily to take off his coat, and then I put him in his crib and he was out cold for the night.
He slept in until almost 8 the following morning, and I knew that was trouble..usually it means a later nap, and a longer nap..yesterday, he decided to switch it up to mean NO nap. I tried to nap him at 11:45...nope...he cried. He was fine when he got out and played. I tried again at 12:40..cries from the crib again. Got him up, fed him..he was laughing and having a blast. I waited until 1:30...he was quiet for a few minutes and then crying again...playing was fun though...so I decided since he was fine when he was up, I guess he didn't need the nap. We loaded up and headed in to my mother in laws house for pizza and to help decorate for Christmas...he was good for a while, but really started to show how tired he was around dinner (when this kid won't eat pizza, there is something wrong). So I scarfed down my piece and we headed home.

During the visit though, G's tenderness for babies showed through again
--at the store when we were watching the parade, one of Ty's employee's wives and their 10 month old showed up..G kept putting his soother back into his mouth when it fell out, or pulling it out because he wanted to kiss him (which I didn't let him..because two little kids kissing is bad in germ season), or kept bringing him over toys to play with, or patting his head...
Anyways, my sister in law was over with my nephew, Bryson. The second G laid eyes on him...it was all head rubs, hugs, wanting to put his soother in and when he started fussing for a bottle, G had a look of panic on his face, so I said "it's ok, Bryson is just hungry, but his mommy is making him a bottle"...he grabbed some goldfish and put them beside Bryson hahah so cute..hopefully he continues to be so gentle with babies and helpful for whenever we decide to have a second one :)

Here are some pictures of him staring at Bryson, and one of him hugging him :)

He fell asleep before we even reached the main road, and slept all the way home...but he woke up when we got home since it was only like shortly after 5...he played, played, played, had a bath, watched some Caillou and finally went down around 8:20. He slept soundly all night and was still sleeping when I left :)

I caught up on some tv shows last night and then we were in bed by 10 also, totally pooped all around!

As I was going through pics this morning, I found this one I had saved...the meaning of Garett we found the night G was born. It fills my heart with joy everytime I read it :) what an amazing little child.

Hope everyone had a weekend full of smiles like we did. Happy Monday!

  1. I'm so happy we got to see you guys on Saturday! The setup at Place for Santa is way nicer than the St. Laurent one is this this. It's so small and Santa was on a bench, not a throne. We were gonna get Rylie's pictures there and saw that and left. The plus side, no lineups lol
Garett with Bryson is how Tanner is with Rylie - it's so cute how they interact!
