Weekend Recap

This weekend was another whirlwind. I seem to use that word a lot, but it's the only word that accurately describes how I feel. Like I feel like I'm trapped in a wind tunnel and can't sit down haha.

Friday I left work right on time, and I beat that first cluster of rush hour traffic, so I made it home in record time. It was glorious. I made a big breakfast for dinner, and then we watched the hockey game, and were all in bed pretty early, knowing we had an early morning the following day.

We woke Garett up around 6:30, packed everything up and were out the door by 7:15. We stopped at Tim Horton's and headed to Cornwall. Tyler was hosting a booth for The Kessel Run at CAPE 2015--an inaugural comiccon type event for Cornwall. It was considered a success in his books, but was tainted a bit with the stress of his truck having broken the night before. Poor guy (it's in the shop now, and he will be back to a normal stress level soon lol). Garett and I spent the day with my family--A toy store run, we stopped at another place to test him out in this cool car that can be controlled like any battery powered car, or switched to remote control (where your kid sits in the car and you can control the movements lol). The glitch? Garett figured out how to switch it back to pedal. He had a blast, but still a few months too young I think. We went on a few walks, stopped at the park, and played at the house. Soon enough it was time to head home.

We were in bed very early on Saturday out of pure exhaustion. When we got home, we had a snack, Garett didn't even have time for a bath before he went to bed. Getting old! haha

Sunday we were up early again--laid in bed for a bit watching cartoons, then got up and Garett played while we cleaned a bit. The house is in total disarray and I can't catch up (another thing I feel like I say a lot). So working on thinning out the amount of STUFF we have, so that I can focus just on the stuff we need and not be suffocating under closets full of things we never use. I dismantled the bed in the spare room, and a young family (am I old enough to say this yet? haha) came and picked it up that morning at 10:30! Good riddance. This bed had seen better days. It underwent countless moves, and for a piece of Ikea furniture, I think it was taken apart and put back together one too many times. But they will get good use out of it, and it still looked pretty new! And now I have a nice nearly empty room for G to play in until I figure out what to do with it--we all know what the long term plan is for that room, but until then...

We also gave the kitchen a good scrub down and put stuff away. We are such bad culprits for treating the kitchen as our catch all. The kitchen table catches everything. Groceries, coats, newspapers/mail, etc. I can't seem to keep it clutter free, but to be expected I guess. I put aside a few toys to donate, and a few more things to try and sell. I went through our closet and separated donate and sell for Tys clothes and my clothes, and I binned up a bunch of G's clothes to put away. Tyler scrubbed down the upstairs bathroom, and I vacuumed upstairs and Ty did a tune up on my car and the van. I organized G's toys a bit, and we relaxed for about 5 minutes after all of that before Garett woke up from his nap. Once he was up, we loaded up the car and headed into town for lunch. We decided on Big Rig that opened not long ago at Gloucester. Can I just say holy overpriced?  I expect a little more for $80, but it tasted good at least. Garett was happy to eat some pizza. We headed over to Ty's store to pick up his van so he could drive that around for a few days while the truck is getting fixed. We headed home to relax and watch the hockey game. Garett was in bed at 8:40 and I didn't even stay awake to watch the Sens lose again. Why are the games on so late?!?! haha

I had to dig out the insulated duck boot things for Garett for this week :( It's cold and rainy all week it looks like! yuck! Kind of voids out my idea that we would bbq dinner all week :( lol

I came to work and saw way too many emails that piled up since I left on Friday, and instantly felt stressed. How did the calmness from my vacation already unravel? lol Luckily, it's a 4 day week for me :) I am off on Friday with Garett since the daycare is closed. Not sure if I just want to stay close to home, or if I want to take him to do something fun. We will see!

Tonight I want a hot bath! The cold from pumping gas this morning has settled into my bones. I had soup at lunch, and now I want to immerse myself into hot water to warm my insides up! brrrr..where did sunny and 21 go? hehe

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend :)
