Weekend Recap

This was seriously the busiest "lazy weekend" ever. People wonder why we are always up and around doing things on weekends? Because it's more relaxing then being at home haha..The stuff needs to get done at home, but when you were looking forward to doing nothing, it seemed like a lot!

Friday I was off with Garett, we did the usual at home stuff--playing, went for a wagon ride, played at the park. The power was off for an hour or two for a lot of the area, so we headed out to G's favourite place (the grocery store), and went up the road to Russell to that primitive design store I talked about. We stopped at DQ for some lunch and ate in the car. The power was on by the time we got home, so I did some laundry. I tried to clean up the toy situation, but it just wasn't working. We packed up a bunch of clothes and brought them to the drop off bin as well. Slowly thinning things out :) Ty had estimates until 6 that night so was a little late getting home. We had a quick dinner of chicken nuggets and those smiley face potatoes and veggies. G was in heaven lol

Saturday we were up bright and early, we did some stuff around the house--painted the accent wall in our master bedroom, more laundry, vacuumed the stairs, swept off the deck and front steps, cleaned a bit in the garage. I also baked some peanut butter cup cupcakes as a trial run for the bakeoff, and we tried that Asian Lettuce Wrap recipe I posted last week (delicious--and Garett is obsessed with the filling). We watched the latest episode of Grey's on apple tv and each grabbed a bath before bed!

Sunday Garett woke us up at 7:30 and we lounged around for a bit. After he ate his breakfast, I baked a batch of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, and we loaded up and all headed to the grocery store. We picked up all the fixings to make sushi, and came home, threw the sticky rice in the rice cooker and went outside. We talked to the neighbours for a bit and G kept busy riding his trike around in the garage and playing with his big tractors in the rocks of the driveway. We raked the front yard, trimmed down to the roots all of the dead plants and trimmed back the trees. We swept up all of the rocks and put them back on the driveway, and thought about driveway plans for the concrete. Ty took down the Christmas lights while G and I played in the backyard. We went around with the wheelbarrow and picked up all of the recycling that blew into our back yard while G kicked a soccer ball around. Back inside, we all washed up, I gave G some lunch and Ty and I watched a youtube video on how to roll sushi, and I would say we did very well for newbies!! ( was also delicious tasting!). I had also put a pork tenderloin in the slow cooker and let it slow cook for 6 hours, shredded it up and let it cook in the sauce for another 1.5 hours. I was looking forward to pulled pork on Kaiser buns, but that's just lunch today instead!

Garett and I painted a bit while daddy painted the rest of the bedroom (which I love 100% more already now that it's painted), then took his bath, and we settled in to watch the hockey game (Poor Sens :( ). I laid out mine and Garett's clothes for today as well. Garett had decided yesterday was a great day to only nap for 55 minutes, so he was pretty pooped. By the time we put him down, it was 8:30, so I figured he would have a small night terror--at 9:50 he cried a bit, I went in and kissed his cheek and he stopped. I'm happy that he is growing out of these--they used to last a few minutes and they are the scariest things ever! He went right back to quiet sleep after like 30 seconds and I went back to bed. We were all exhausted!

I am sad to be back to reality today :(I love weekend life! lol

Happy Monday everyone! Hopefully you enjoyed your weekends! :)
