New recipe in the house
Well, in comparison to the other night, last night was pretty tame.
Tyler had to work at the store until 6, to give the Manager a break, and to wait until his business partner arrived to work the evening. Meanwhile, G and I came home to the spotless house (seriously still the best feeling), brought the garbage and recycling bins in, washed our hands and splashed in the sink for a while.
Then, in true Garett fashion, he wasn't finished playing in the kitchen sink, so he continued to do that while I cut up broccoli floret's, onion, garlic and mushrooms and shredded a bit of cheese. We decided to try a new dish--a broccoli, mushroom 'cheesy' quinoa bake. Though I don't know why it's called cheesy when there's only 3 oz of cheese mixed in, and 3 on top. The entire family LOVED it and just devoured it. I brought a bit for lunch today and can't wait to heat it up! lol I only ate 1/4 of a cup of it and was surprisingly full after. Very filling. Though Tyler and I agreed maybe no cheese next time (It seems like the consistency would be better without cheese on top)--Garett disagreed to no cheese next time.

I took Garett for a walk around the block, and we played with his map AGAIN from the Little Passports. God, he LOVES that map.
We played hide and seek, we chased dragons and witches around the house (his game, not mine lol), we picked out his clothes for today--and I don't even care that he picked bright orange shorts and an equally bright green shirt with dinosaurs on it. He's just going to daycare, so whatever! lol
Tyler and I took turns taking showers, and we put Garett to bed aroun 8:45. We watched an episode of Dexter, and headed to bed.
I was hoping to squeeze in a date night tonight, but I think after a long week, we might just put it off until next Friday! But we are craving a good feast--and I'm not sure what I want for my cheat meal, or if I even want one, tonight. Not having any real cravings, which is SO weird. I guess what they say is true, when you have a totally balanced healthy diet, your body shouldn't "want" for anything! Usually I'm a French fry or chocolate kind of girl. But haven't had the desire in the 2 weeks I've been doing this! Hopefully it stays that way !
Hope everyone has a good weekend (busy, or relaxed; whatever you wish for!).

Don't lie - the chasing of dragons and witches was TOTALLY your game! Haha! He's such a bum! I'll definitely try that quinoa bake...without the mushrooms and cheese though lol!
ReplyDeleteWhat season of Dexter are you in? I think I want to re-watch the series! I loved it!
haha totally not, but I definitely feed into it and get him all riled up with it!
Deletethe mushrooms are good just because they add a bit more consistency and not like you're just eating a mush, but theres onions and broccoli too, so that might be enough :)
We are only on the third episode in season 1--it's going to take forever to get through lol.
you must have to use a lot of quinoa for that recipe? sounds interesting, may try it with some switercheroos
ReplyDeleteNo, not at all! It's only a cup :) And it fills up to the top an 8x8 casserole. Which doesn't sound like a lot, but it fed me, my very hungry husband, and Garett, and there was enough for me to bring for lunch, and still almost half of the casserole left!
DeleteI didn't put as much butter in, and I used more broccoli, onions, garlic and mushrooms because we like all of that, and a little less flour. Also, I used whole wheat flour and skim milk.
