Hump dayee

Image
Yesterday was not at all what I expected. I thought I would have a productive day. I went to the pharmacy in the morning to pick up our travel prescriptions. Not there, not even faxed in, though there was a French message on the machine and our nurse was French so I had to wait while they found the ONE French girl in the entire embrun pharmacy to translate. 25 minutes later after she finished talking to her friend right in front of me, she got around to it--wasn't even a message for me so I waited for nothing. I called the travel medicine office we went to--oh the Physician is just looking at our chart now, will fax it in when he's done--would have been nice info to now before I went in there. Ugh! Lol oh well--a trip to shoppers is never a waste :) Then I went over to the grocery store --grabbed what I needed for dinner. The dinner I never even made because we got to talking and were so tired, so we had leftovers and some veggies and such. I stopped at the Tim hortons for a co...

Monday was a snail

Image
Ok Monday went by far too slow (as most Mondays do). Ty was supposed to have a short day, but since it turned out to be a nice day after all, he worked a few hours longer. When he came home Garett was napping. So , when he woke up, I ran out to the store to grab a few things. I thought buying food as we needed it would be cheaper, but it feels like I spend at least $50 everyday! What the heck !! So I came home, did a few dishes and made dinner. This is called an Italian Sausage Galette. First, I had to make the dough, which was just as easy as the pizza Dough I made, but totally different! Then, made the filling, filled to crust and waited 35 agonizing minutes smelling this cook! Yum. That's the only word I can think of while wiping the drool dripping off my chin in remembrance of this dish. Garett went down around 10, so we relaxed a bit and followed suit! Today, I have to go pick up our antibiotics for the trip, and that's the only real thing on the go! Aside from the usual d...

Alarm clock:needed

Image
I was under the impression that my 6:30 wake up call would last forever, and I would never need to set an alarm clock again. Wrong. This can change overnight (literally ) and never use a baby for this purpose lol. Garett has move on to 8:30-9:00 AM wakeups, and sits there silently until I go in. This is not a problem for me at all , but a few times Tyler has shot up out of bed at 9, running late, be ause he's used to me coming in with Garett for his morning bottle much earlier. Oops:) Yesterday was nice and relaxing ! I got up and headed to the store. We relaxed and played with Garett a bit until we were getting hungry, so I cooked a big breakfast (brunch lol) while Garett napped. I wanted to catch up on putting laundry away and cleaning, but decided it could wait :) Dolly came over later in the day for a visit and to load some of her wedding pics onto Facebook while Ty and I finished up watching Limitless. I had already watched this, but Ty hadn't seen it yet, and I thought it...

Girl Talk

Image
Last night was so much fun--I mean I don't get out much anymore with the girls, so I love my girl talk when I get it! I met up for a really early dinner with my "meatball" Amber--one of my most favourite girls, ever :) I feel like she has always just "got me", so she was so easy to talk to. We settled on going to Moxie's since it was close to my mother in laws place and Ty could take Garett there to hang out while we were out, and I could have a drink or two and not worry about driving after !  We skipped the appetizers so we could have some dessert and have room for it lol--we each got a pitcher of sangria (though I had the white zin and she had the red)... Yum! For dinner I ha the penne Toscana. I always get this everytime I go to Moxie's--it's probably my favourite pasta dish from any restaurant. For dessert I had the sticky toffee pudding...it was so good, but so sweet and I couldn't eat it all :(  We were there for like 4 hours, so it was ti...

So many pinterests, so little time

Friday morning was a blur, trying to get ready and out the door with G for 8:45. We had an appointment at Medysis for our travel medicine. Turns out I only needed my updated tetanus/diphtheria/pertussis shot that e erroneous gets every 10 years. She gave us our Dukarol boosters and sent in our prescription for antibiotics in case we need them while we are away. Painless:) it's getting so close!! :)  We grabbed a quick lunch at timmies and Ty went back to work and I went home with G.   We decided to have Garett's Godparents over for dinner, so I turned to Pinterest!  My current obsession is making new Pinterest recipes. I still love our old standards, but my aspiring foodie side is getting the best of me, so my fave partof he day is going to the store for fresh ingredients for dinner. I settled on creamy Cajun chicken. I added pancetta to the recipe ....yummmmmm We had artisan garlic bread with it and had two cakes at dessert (a truffle cake and ablackforest style cake but...

Thursday blur-day

Image
Ok where the heck did the week go ? I remember thinking ugh it's only Monday night, now BAM --Thursday. Last night Ty was home a little later than usual, so we ordered in dinner. I had taken G on a mommy and baby shopping day where we bought nothing but clothes (and a few pairs of hoes for him) for ourselves :) my fave days! Lol I needed to stop at the bank and the grocery store on the way back home o get stuff for dinner but he was passed out napping and I didn't want to wake him up to go into yet another store, so we skipped it and I decided we were ordering in since I was pooped too! I did what seemed to be endless laundry (and it really wasn't just my imagination, it's mostly all folded on my bed right now waiting to be out away)--still two loads to fold on the table in the basement, a load in the dryer and 3 more loads to do waiting---how do we accumulate so much laundry!!!? Ty decided to watch the game.We watched the first period together and I tried to bring Gare...

Tuesday October 22

So the Rogers guy is here today--I apparently don't know how to count days and have been thinking the last few days was the 22nd. What the heck? All sense of time is long gone. I better get back to work, and fast, before I start asking people what year it is lol.  Anyways, last night we hung out, ate a yummy dinner--a cheesy chicken pasta dish : We settled in to watch The Butler--which apparently isn't even out yet.. Instead Ty bought Righteous Kill...which I realized 3 mins in the I have already seen. Lol oops. We had watched Eat, Pray,Love earlier in the day since Ty was home yesterday and he had never seen it (one of my all time faves--it inspires me everytime I see it). Garett is taking his first nap ever in his crib right now, since I needed to put him somewhere quiet while he tech was here. So far, so good. I was worried he got feel like I was trying to put him down for the night lol. Since we are having leftovers tonight (the above dinner made far, far too much food), I ...

Here we go again, Monday

Image
Sunday was nice :)  We relaxed in the morning, cleaning up a bit. I went to the grocery store (it was insanely busy, what the heck?!) and we made evening plans with our friends Jeff and Leah. I started a new rib roast recipe I found that involved a ton of veggie (sick of roast that are just carrot and potato--so we mixed it up)! Filled with onion, garlic (of course ), celery, carrots, tomato, and mushrooms. Probably my fave roast recipe as of late--it's a keeper. Thanks Pinterest :) I also made a new potato recipe (which I'm always looking for. We love potatoes in this house, but I hate how much effort mashed involves and I was ready to change up the other ideas for some new ones). I settled on these oven baked/chicken broth infused ones. They took forever to bake, but when they were done they were pretty good, and I appreciate things I can pop into the oven and carton with life until its ready! For a veggie I made my usual green bean mix up of stuff and added leftover from bre...

A Saturday post!!

Thought I would share the good news! I got an experienced blood taker taking my blood this morning, so I finally have my upgraded life insurance policy when the tests come back :) she barely even had to feel for a vein. Thanks a lot to the other girl for traumatizing me. I have never clinched my eyes shut so hard--and let me tell you, it ain't no child birth, so when she can scar me like that, you know it was bad! Lol We were up early this morning cleaning and organizing. We were going to start the furnace room, but then I decided to go to the grocery store and get stuff for dinner. Ty made a  Big breakfast, I made a bit of baby food, Garett tried yogurt for the first time and is obsessed!! Once we both relaxed a bit, I started some beef stroganoff in the slow cooker. It was painful having to smell this all day for Ty since he didn't get to eat any before his gig lol. I just had some (7:45pm) when it was finally ready--yummy!! I also made some ooey-gooey cookies n'cream bar...

Friday October 18

Ok, thankfully it's Friday. Not so thankfully this month is flying by!! Also, my pumpkins are rotten and in the garbage :( I guess they did well--and we won't be here in Halloween anyways so no biggie! Ty ate a really late lunch yesterday (like we're talking 4pm) so, in turn I didn't get to cooking until around 6. Let me tell you, between the laundry, errands, playing, Garett mealtimes, diapers, bottles, dishes, naps that inconveniently happen on my lap, etc, I sometimes forget (aka don't have time so I push my hunger to the back of my mind) to eat. So, between a quick brunch at 11 and starting a pretty labour/time intensive recipe such as chicken pot pie and puff pastry at 6pm...I was starving. Around 7:45 I got to pull it out of the oven, cut through the perfect flaky/warm/buttery pastry and dig into the creamy/veggie/oven roasted chicken/comforting inside. Omg. I died. Just to make sure I wasn't tooting my own horn too fast, I had Ty try it. Yup, I got the cl...

Thursday October 17

For those of you that have me on Facebook, you know last night was a big night for our family ! We did it! We found a babysitter /daycare for Garett . I held out and held out, waiting for the right fit, and boy did we find it! I LOVE her. She is great with the kids (only three others--2 one y/o's and 1 two y/o), home cooked meals, flexible hours, nice home, countless toys she rotates, huge yard, quiet road, an older daughter that babysits, etc--she is like a dream, and our personalities clicked as soon as we met. AMEN! So we signed our contract and put in our deposit (which was fantastic because other providers wanted us to pay full time rates to hold a spot!) and came home ecstatic! Garett will only be going a few days a week come January when I go back sine Ty is mostly off this summer, so that's even better for him to get used to her and the kids and love going before I have to drop him off lolol he will be full time come summer :)  This morning Garett and I went out to the ...

Boring week

Image
Sorry for the lack of posts through the week. My life is pretty typical, though I am thinking of starting a dinner post a day. I have a ton of recipes I have been collecting to try and am working my way through them, so that will probably be what you are going to read about through the week, and if you don't like it then too bad! ;)  Tonight I made a recipe I came across this morning on Pinterest that I immediately wanted to taste, so Garett and I got ready and headed to the grocery store to pick up the stuff I didn't have. The pin said easy Pierogi Casserole--easy is an understatement --but holy time consuming. This is not a meal to be made in a hurry between cooking the pasta and making mashed potatoes, you also have to bake it for 35 mins when you're ready to dig in as soon as its assembled in the casserole dish Lol. Anyways, here is a pic of it, and surprisingly mine looked just like this --usually things in lasagna form fall flat for me. Ty devoured half of the 11x13 p...

September date day and thanksgiving recap

Image
Yep, you read that right. We had our October date before our September date even happened lol. This weekend was filled with fun. Friday morning we woke up and everyone got ready. We met with our photographer at the Arboretum/Experimental Farms/Ornamental Gardens and proceeded to take 2 hours of pictures (family, me and Garett, Ty and Garett, and just Garett). I cannot wait to see all th great shots we got! She has 7 shoots to touch up before ours, but she has promised some teasers soon--with the whole set taking about 4 weeks. We headed out--and Garett was toast! We had to stop by a job site for Ty to check on the guys, so Garett and I hung out in the truck for 25 mins singing and clapping and he took some pics when I was just trying to show him us in the camera. I was hoping that he knew what he was doing and did this on purpose, but I think it was a fluke he took the pics...either way, it was cute. We grabbed some lunch and headed home to relax and finish our day with some kind of th...

Getting ready...

Yesterday I finally managed to get all my summer clothes put away. Even when I type it, it doesn't sound like a big job. But going through my drawers to get all my summer skirts/capris/light pants folded and put into bins, then sort through my summer tops (because I have to leave some tank top like shirts out for under blazers/pullovers, etc), get them into the bins, and then wash all the fall/winter clothes and get them hung (and then I hang them in order of colour and if its a pull over, sweater, long sleeve shirt, tshirt, tank top. It's just so time consuming. I cannot wait for when I have a huge closet and can leave ALL my clothes out all year long :)  I packed away all my summer dresses and cover-ups too, although that bin is still in my room because I will need it when I start packing for Mexico--which is now 53 days away--and for those that know me, know I will be packing in about 33 days lol I have also bought my bathing suits and am starting shopping for more dresses (...

Weekend recap

Image
Busy past few days... One of my cats went missing on Thursday afternoon--Friday night around 11 she finally came home :) I was so happy and wired that I barely got to sleep. 3:30 AM on Saturday morning...the cell phone goes off....we call the number back and the number doesn't work...wtf. Saturday was our October date day. This months date involved Garett, so we loaded up and headed all the way out to Carp Farmers Market. I love Markets! So we wandered around and bought some fudge (skor, chunky peanut butter and caramel walnut flavours), some real maple syrup, pickled beets (for Ty ) , dill pickles and our pumpkins (Ty got an orange and I to a white one). We stopped to watch a man playing some music because Garett was really curious and then we headed out :) We drove a few minutes down the road to Alice's Village Cafe for breakfast. In this place you order your food at the counter and they bring it out when it's ready. The food was good (and the cinnamon bun we split was to...
