Buy this house

Well, our listing officially went up this morning, and by 8:15 am we had a showing booked at 7:30 tonight. That would be some sort of record if we sold one day on the open market, I'm sure lol...but I won't get my hopes up. This could be a long journey, you just never know!! Here is our listing :) http://beta.realtor.ca/propertyDetails.aspx?PropertyId=14733369  The house I really wanted sold yesterday. I am very upset about it. I had my heart set on it, but luckily we have 2 more in the running. Tyler was a good man and stepped back to let me choose the house :) thank god!! I just have a few tiny things to do before we leave tonight for the viewers, but we are just about ready! So excited. Not excited that it's approaching G's bedtime when they leave, but it am willing him to nap right now. He is groaning in his crib, but I hope he has a little snooze anyways.  Now he's kicking the rails in his crib. Haha Going to a quick supper tonight. I don't want to cook any...

Memoirs from the bathtub..

That's right, folks.  I am writing from the comfort of my tub. With a big glass of...water in hand. I am so dehydrated these past two days, I feel sick. Major oops.  On the upside, my child is in one piece , happy, well fed, well rested, well played, well EVERYTHING, the house is spotless, and I am a broken person. Not emotionally, but physically. Everything is sore. The last time my house was this clean (aside from when we moved in) is when I was oh, say, 35 weeks pregnant and deep into nesting. No cushion was out of place, no laundry to be found...it really is a wonderful thing!! Turns out I work well under pressure.  When our realtor asked me on Sunday if we would be ready for pictures tonight (tues) at 3:45, I thought "challenge accepted." 3 mini panic attacks later, it was done :) the photographer came--did his business in about 30 minutes and was gone. We visited a bit with the realtor , he out the lock box on the door, and just like that, 2 days of stressing came d...

What vacation?

I come to you 1) in the evening instead of the day, and 2)with a massive headache brought on by stress/a child that has found his outside voice/ dehydration. It has been a whirlwind few days, yet was so long, I can barely believe it's only Friday. Turns out I got daycares vacation schedule wrong by a day. So I had Wednesday to myself for the most party I went and got some stuff for the house, and an outfit for the following night. I sorted a bunch of stuff at home and then picked up G early.  Friday I played all morning, and did some cleaning. My parents came to watch my little man while I went to watch another little man (lol) ,Bruno Mars...we were a bit peeved when we got there, as the show was slotted to start at 7:30 and didn't start until 8 (parent problems lol). Nico and Vinz or something opened and they were great! An awesome island/African vibe...very upbeat and fun to dance to...and they were so down to earth--great guys. Then there was another 40 mins...we waited...a...

Amy has left the building...

I'm always so hopefully at the beginning of my summer holidays. Everything is possible. I want to take G on stroller rides through scenic paths, sip smoothies on the bench outside of a quaint boutique cafe, lick ice cream cones at the park, slide down so many slides our bums hurt, play in the water so much we become water logged, see cool animals at Little Rays (if I can get the guts up to go lol), make the coolest arts and crafts and make homemade glitter slime to play with....I'm challenging myself to do all of this, at the same time as packing half my crap away (yes crap, because all everything ever does in my house is take up ROOM), look at a bagillion houses, sell our house (I have high hopes for the next two weeks LOLOL), and cook nice family dinners each and every night. Oh I also want to squeeze in a cool concert, time with my own family, celebrating clos friends 25th wedding anniversary, host a cousins night (I'm reallllyyyy pushing for this to be rescheduled and...

Random Monday Survey, just because

Image
I'm not feeling like writing a recap today, I am feeling a bit stressed, so to unwind, I think I will just do a survey:) Can you whistle? Yes Where is your favorite place on earth? La Parrilla in Mexico. It's so fun, welcoming and there's always something to look at ---the food was AMAZING too.. Do you own a bike, rollerblades, or skates? Bike and Skates...but since I can't skate, I dont own rollerblades! haha Favorite thing to do in the summer? BBQ's/Patio time, play outside, be by the water, tan, do fun things together as a family (fairs, shows, etc)..everything.;..I love summer! What about in the winter? Be inside with the fireplace, a big fluffy blanket, a hot chocolate and a good movie. Or being outside if it's a mild winter day. Something you hate to do? Dishes, put laundry away after it's washed...that's two things...but I hate them equally Last thing you spilled? The cats water bowl yesterday Who knows you best? Probabl...

Oh-Em-Gee, it's FRIDAY

Image
I am so excited for it to be Friday right now, I feel like a 7 year old waiting for Santa to toss himself down the chimney and deliver my presents! Yesterday, I left work around 11 to grab some lunch with a friend before heading to my sister-in-laws shower at my old building. Well, one thing led to another, and I ended up not coming back at all :) I went right to my car, picked up G and went home. YUP, that's my kind of day (even though I still worked 4 hours in the morning lol). Step #2 was done on the front walk when I got home!:) Today it gets cut, cleaned and sealed and will be complete! Woohoo! Looks a little lighter right now, but will be a darker grey colour when it's completed :) After that, I finished up dinner--pot roast with mashed potatoes and peas. We played all night before baths and accomplished diddly-squat, and it was WONDERFUL. That just means we have to work doubly hard this weekend though lol We talked to our realtor for a bit last night, and he...

Thursday Randomness

Image
Here we are, on this beautiful Thursday morning, with a million things to do in the coming days, so little time to do it, and one more day to get through (after today) until the weekend :) Last night was crazy in my world. I left work a little early (Ty went to get G) and I had to go to the bank to get change for parking (yay for being on the wait list for easy, cheap monthly parking, and going through toonie galore while I wait--#14 now WHOOP WHOOP! lol). When I left the bank, I had to hit up the grocery store for groceries (aka we were in desperate need of food and this was the only moment I could squeeze the grocery store in before being asked what was for dinner lol). I got home, went and checked the mail (of course, nothing exciting in there for me lol), unloaded the groceries, and called Ty with a squeal. We knew we were going to do our front walk/steps to match the stamped concrete out back--but he wanted to surprise me with when we did it. I knew one day soon I would come hom...

Hump Dayee

Hi All! Well, we made it through Tuesday (AKA longest day of the week), and even though it wasn't Friday like I thought it was, I am still happy to see hump day roll around. Last night was pretty uneventful--same old--dinner, cleaning up, playing, baths, bed. We are enjoying the routine of weeknights for now--though tonight it will be thrown off a bit. Need to get home, get dinner done and cleaned up and get our list of questions ready for this home that we are viewing: http://beta.realtor.ca/propertyDetails.aspx?PropertyId=14554571 The idea of a new home excites me, but the idea of a nice house that needs only a little bit of work in each room (ie, new floors or paint, or light fixtures) excites both of us, because it's like a blank slate. I think this house is a good example of that. The only thing worrisome is the pool area. I don't like that the pool is flush with the deck (for reasons of Garett fall in). So we would either need to break that deck down and build...

Tuesday, WHAT?

I am so out of touch right now--I have, until 20 minutes ago, been going along thinking it was Friday :( If you are one of those people...just a reminder that today is TUESDAY. As in, not even over the middle of the week is done. grrrr hhah Last night , I made a mac and cheese casserole for dinner once we got home, booked 4 house showings this week (one on Weds after work and 3 on Friday evening), cleaned the kitchen, bathed G, played like crazy, put G to bed and sat on the internet for a whole 30 minutes before falling asleep--what an exciting life I lead, eh? Guess what though...it's the best :) Ty and I were up at the same time today, which was nice. Usually he is sleeping still when I leave, so we only see each other in the evenings, but it's nice to have that conversation in the morning, I find! Tonight, some marinated pork chops, salad and smashed potatoes for dinner--and I am going to tackle the spare room closet, and put some clothes from our closet away, to make ...

A Tale of Weekend Past

I am not impressed with Father Time right now...I think he on purpose makes the second hand move fast on clocks over the weekend..It doesn't seem feasible that it's over! I would like to officially boycott Mondays. Friday, we had one of Tyler's employees over for dinner. He was helping Ty out later on in the day, so he popped in on the way through, and so I made some chicken fajitas. He left around 8:30. By that time, G was in bed (he was pooped, as per usual), and so Ty and I decided to play some games. I was in bed by 11 or so, and we were up bright and early the next morning. We had some breakfast at home, and did some organizing around the house, then Ty cut the grass while G and I played inside. We went out for lunch afterwards to a local restaurant, played a little more and just puttered around the house all day. We sat down on a mission after G went to bed and scowered the real estate websites for a few hours looking at houses, making a list of which ones we want to...

TGIFriday!!!!!

We did it, all! We made it through another week, to another Friday! I can see the gold at the end of the rainbow, light at the end of the tunnel, etc, etc. And to top it off, we are being SPOILED with weather yet again this weekend. Things just couldn't be better :) Yesterday I left work a little early, like I promised myself I would--at 3. Tyler called to tell me he would pick up G, so I went straight home. With construction, I got home around 3:50 and tidied up the living room and put some dishes away before my boys came home. I made some pasta with italian sausage and my spaghetti sauce and did up some garlic bread. We relaxed for a while as G napped. He didn't have a great nap (I guess because he doesn't usually sleep in the afternoon anymore), so he woke up really fussy...nothing a little babybel can't fix--he certainly does love those things. Then it's like the gates of heaven opened and he was an angel again :) My parents stopped in for a quick visit to s...

Is it Friday yet?

This week is seriously the longest ever. The whole week has been dead at work--and looking to another 4 weeks of it being like that, because everything grinds to a halt when my Director isn't here. This morning has picked up a little bit with her returning for Friday and Monday, but then she is off until the end of the month...exciting. At least I am off for a while (July 23-29) and then again on August 1 ..and then again at the end of august for 1 day for our little anniversary trip :) Using my days sparingly, because I know I like taking time off in the winter LOL I am going out for lunch today with my sister in law by my work :) I am excited--it gets lonely around here when you don't really know anyone well enough to really be yourself lol...though tomorrow I have a date with the advisor here to go to the cupcake lounge :) Pretty excited...the cupcake she brought me yesterday was from there ..and oh my god...delicious...mouth watering..succulent. It was the best cupcake I...

Now I know why Molly Maid was invented

You never realise how much things have built up, until you have to break them down... Yesterday, I was off from work, and knew that G was going to daycare anyways, so that was my last ditch effort to really dig my claws into cleaning house... Well, I did get lots done (and I'm talking cleaning non-stop from 8AM-3:30 PM--with one 42 minute break for lunch and an episode of Gossip Girl lol). But not the whole house, like I was hoping :( I turned on the apple tv and blasted my itunes--I managed only 3 loads of laundry (and have about 3 left to put away and about 8 more loads to do--yay sheets, towels, bathmats, curtains and day to day stuff for three people). I figured I would start with the living room next. I moved some toys around, organized and washed all of G's toys, moved the couches and swept under them, vaccuumed around the crown molding, washed the window and window sill, scrubbed the baseboards, washed the walls, dusted the furniture, vaccuumed the area rug, swept ...

Weekend Recap

It's hard to believe a few days went by since I last sat in this chair. Where is the time disappearing to?!?! This weekend was a lot of fun; but productive, it was not! I had my handy "to-do" list all ready to go Friday afternoon. I went home on a mission. G was pooped as soon as we got home, so I cleaned up the last few cabinets (I only have a set of dishes to pack and the fondue sets to take out of the cupboard above the fridge now :)). Once he woke up, that was pretty much it until Sunday. Tyler decided to go golfing on Saturday around 11--and since he is such a hard working man, I couldn't say no when he asked. I usually get MORE done when he's gone anyways, but realized that the stuff I had planned to do that day was packing away alot of his stuff (bar stuff, garage stuff, etc), and I didn't want to do that without him, so I played for a bit instead. Instead of being productive when G went for his nap, I watched 2 episodes of Gossip Girl and had some l...

Survey!

Bored at work today, so here is how I choose to spend my time: 1. What time did you get up this morning? 5:45. My alarm is set for 6, but on overcast days like this, my body always wakes me up before my alarm in a panic. 2. How do you like your steak? Medium Well. Just a little pink inside, but a nice char on the outside. 3. What was the last film you saw at the cinema? I don't even know. I hate going to the movies. It's too loud, it's uncomfortable sitting up for an entire movie (I like laying down and being cozy), they charge way too much for admission and snacks now (I'm not a cheapo, but for a subpar experience, I have better things to spend $40 on)...All that to say I think maybe it was Lone Survivor. 4. What is your favorite TV show? Gossip Girl lol 5. If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be? Here. There is no country better than Canada, for real. We complain about little things like our Prime Ministers and Premieres, but it's still...

I am in love...

The house we went to see last night was as good as ours, in my mind. 2 catches: 1) our house isn't listed yet--going to chat with our Mortgage agent next week, have our house appraised and list that sucker! Hopefully by this time two weeks from now, we will be actively on the market :) 2) I was totally sold after I saw it. Then we came home and I slept on it, and now I am scared to commit to the first house we really LIKED. The poor owner last night. I must have asked her a million questions. But aside from that, this house spoke to me. It said "buy me and raise your son and one more little one within my walls". It was the ideal family home (for a few years until we convince ourselves again we need bigger, bigger, bigger lol), but realistically more room than we will ever REALLY need. Aside from some paint colours of my own choosing, nothing would need to be done. The carpet was perfection, the hard wood floors gleamed (totally unscathed in almost 10 years) and were...

Problems with working in the summer time

As much as I have loved to work in the summer time; -it means sleeping in a little longer - traffic is a lot less congested - less people at work, but more work, so it passes the day faster - beautiful scenic walks at lunch - easier to eat healthy at work I also have my reasons for hating it. The pros are wonderful, but if I could do fun activities all day long with my boy each and everyday, I would. Yesterday was a great day at work, and at home we decided we are officially gearing up in the real estate market (realtor is coming soon to appraise our house, and based on how the viewing goes tonight, we will decide how quickly our home will be listed). While those things are all well and good, yesterday G got to go strawberry picking (since in the summer it's just him and one other boy most days--the other parents are teachers and pull the kids from daycare in the summer). I want to go strawberry picking and watch his little fingers push through the plants to get that delicious,...

Mother Nature has a serious sense of humour

Well, back to the grind today! Yesterday was shaping up to be a beautiful day, but the weather warnings had us too scared to do everything we had planned. We woke up fairly early, got us all ready and packed up the car. The original plan was breakfast, a quick visit to my mother in laws place, a splash pad for little man, home for a nap, and out to a neighbouring community for their kids activities they had planned (petting zoo, firemen were there making a huge sprinkler, etc) and then home for another nap and playing in the yard..we really accomplished nothing almost! We went into town for a yummy breakfast just at Broadway's grill--G chowed down on sausage, eggs, homefries and toast, I had a breakfast wrap and Ty had his trusty breakfast poutine (he gets this everytime we go to this place for breakfast lol--how is he so skinny again??). We decided we would go for a swim at my M-i-l's as we all had our swimsuits that day--and we wanted to give it another whirl in the pool...
