35 Weeks Pregnant

Yesterday I went for my OB appointment. I gained 1 lb in the last 2 weeks, my blood pressure was perfect, her heartbeat was good, urine was clear, and we are measuring exactly 35 weeks. He predicts about 7.5lb of beautiful baby when she is born. My next appointment, on July 12, is my last bi-weekly appointment. He will do the group B swab then, and then after that, I move on to the weekly appointments. Since he goes on vacation on August 1, we will start membrane sweeps at my 37 week appointment to see if we can speed things up a bit :) They didn't work for Garett, but maybe she will be less stubborn, lol. I am feeling a lot of tightness, because she's taking up so much room. She is head down, and my bladder definitely feels this. This wakes me up in the night sometimes with the sudden cramp of having to pee really bad. Not so fun. But at least it's not every night! This weekend, I am going to mark "packing hospital bags" off my list, I hope. Just one less...

Tuesday Nights of Summer

Image
Yesterday was my last day in the office with my Director. We shed a few tears on the way out--she cried harder than me, but that's neither here nor there, lol. Since she will be missing my last day, she brought in an ice cream pie--it had like a shortbread like thick crust with icecream in the middle that she mixed with crushed oreos and cookies n' cream chocolate bars, and topped with a caramel sauce. I only had a little piece. It was so rich. So good. I carried out my last full box from work (I have a few little things to bring when I leave on Thursday, but that's it! and headed to get G. When we got home, there was a little parcel waiting--another pair of baby shoes from zulily had arrived, and I am obsessed with them lol The guys had finished framing and prepping the front walk/driveway/back patio/shed pad yesterday, so Tyler is hoping that the storms they are calling for today are not happening so that they could at least get the front por...

Nothing negative surprises me...

Busy weeknights

Image
As the end of my work-time is quickly approaching, I somehow have more energy at night time. Maybe it's because I see an end in sight? I don't know, but I feel less pressured to immediately get home, do dinner, do bed time routines and get to bed. Or perhaps that carefree summer vibe is creeping in :) Either way. Last night was busy. When I got home with G around 3:45, the guys were finishing up at the house for the day--finishing the forms in the back. Today they are forming the front and prepping the job to be poured--we decided to extend the patio about 4 feet in length and 2.5 feet in width, so they had some extra digging to do also. And can I say how excited I am to not have one of us parking on the road anymore? hooray. Come on pour day! Come on weather that isn't calling for rain, preventing the pour from happening! We loaded G into the rental truck. The rental truck. The bane of Tyler's existence currently. Side story: About a month ago, Tyler was pa...

Sunday Recap

Image
After taking in so much sun and heat on Saturday, we were all feeling pretty lazy on Sunday. We slept in a bit, lounged around and watched some cartoons, and Garett ate a waffle while we got dressed. We headed out to drop Ty's enclosed trailer off at his yard, and then went out to eat. We popped into my mother in laws house to drop something off for my father in law, and since he was home alone for a little while, we didn't go in to play or anything, so he could nap. Instead, we headed home, Tyler moved some stuff around in the backyard with G, and we spent the rest of the afternoon inside. It was just too warm/sunny to do anything, so we cranked the AC and turned on some movies/played in the house/splashed in the tub, cleaned up the kitchen and had a quick dinner. Garett passed out on the couch randomly at around 4:45 and slept until 6:15 like this, lol. We cleaned his fish tank when he woke up and ran around a bit. But he was in bed again by 8:45 and w...

Saturday recap

Image
Saturday was a busy one. I don't think we were inside more than 20 minutes all day/night.  We were up bright and early and took a trip to the grocery store to stock up on drinks and food to BBQ. Garett always likes to stop and chat with the lobsters (so sad lol). We headed home and the guys showed up with the gravel, one went back out to get the tractor and the others started digging.  G was right in the digging action. He had them fill up his new dump trailer and would drive his little loads back and forth to the big trailer. He is quite taken with being "one of the guys" and has a seriously strong work ethic for a three year old. He didn't like them taking breaks LOL.  While they were going to town on that, I went out to toysrus and walmart, picked up a little pool, a paw patrol sprinkler thing, and a shovel/rake/ho kit. I set up some toys in G's water table and he cooled off frequently in those things between endless sunscreen reapplications and outfit/shoe cha...

Friday recap

Image
Well my last Friday at work for the next year came and went. I was feeling fairly energetic when I left work because I was pretty bored at work and got everything packed and ready to go for next week   Tyler was home early, so we went to a few stores to do some retail therapy. We get into moods where we just want to spend money. I love those nights.  First things first. G needed another pair of sandals. He has his crocs and water shoes and running shoes and flip floppy kind of stroppy sandals , but he had outgrown his daycare closed toe sandals. So we bought him these ones. They light up when you walk on them. He likes them lol.  We have also been dealing with a crummy microwave for a few months since we moved. We don't use the microwave often, but I'm not sure what stopped us from splurging a whole $135 on a new one so we didn't have to deal with how difficult the old one was lol. So we went home with a new one. Installed. Done.  I also needed a new curved stand up ...

Friday Random

This is my last Friday at work for over a year! It still feels pretty surreal. Saying "June 30" in response to people asking when I'm done still seems far away! Yesterday was our Divisional day, and it was amazing! We set up lots of fun activities and had awards for most spirited, had a clinical psychologist come in and talk about stress management and depression while we ate lunch--she kept it very light hearted, which is nice since we were all sitting out in our Directors backyard stuffing our faces with delicious food. My Director surprised me with a gift of my choosing from our gov't iboutique, so I will have to order that later and when it arrives, it'll be an excuse to come and visit :) The only thing is with the breeze, you forgot how hot it was! Much of my day was spent in the shade, but I still didn't apply sunscreen as much as I should have. So today, because of it, I have a sunburn on my face/chest/arms. oops! I have been lathering on aloe, an...

34 weeks pregnant: update

I skipped my 33 week. Nothing overly exciting is happening. I feel ok energy wise, but definitely getting harder to move around. I FEEL like the end is near, which is probably wrong, and probably only because I know moreso what to expect this time around and I'm wishing it away so I can just have her here with us. I remember only feeling like it was the "end" with Garett like two weeks before he was born. When I felt like I couldn't be pregnant for one second longer, and then it lasted right to his due date. We will see. The summer is also taking a toll. Once my new summer wardrobe arrives, it will be a bit more manageable! at 34 weeks, baby is about 4 3/4 lbs, and 18 inches long--fat is starting to build up on her so she is a little more filled out when she is born--as seen in the last ultrasound, I know those little cheeks are filled out pretty well already LOL Heartburn has returned with a vengeance--tums don't work. And often it leads to me getting a lit...

Tuesday Random

Image
I suspect the next two weeks will pass by at a snails pace, as is the way when you're counting down to something. Lots to do at work to get ready for my departure, but not a lot of motivation to do so--which makes the day even longer, lol. It's a vicious cycle. Today there is a birthday lunch for two girls I work with, so will probably hit that up and then go to the dollar store with a few others to grab what we need for our Divisional day on Thursday. I assume today will go by a bit quicker :) Yesterday we ended up ordering from a place called Fiazza Fresh Fire Pizza downtown. It was so delicious, and I probably should have stopped eating much before I did. I ordered the Capri pizza, which is kalamata olives, goat cheese, roasted red peppers, artichoke and pesto sauce instead of tomato sauce. Oh my word. so tasty. definitely give them a shot if you're close to Murray street, or if you are in the zone for ubereats!! It also got here in like 20 minutes. and the dri...

Life Lately

- I was off most of last week with a cold/sinus infection/pregnancy allergies. It was brutal. I'm still pretty stuffed up, but it's nothing like it was. So back to work today, and I just have to make it until June 30, then I am off and can deal with crazy things (like my own health lol) - Tyler was away in New Hampshire for more Clifrock training from Weds afternoon until Saturday around 5. G and I like our time to ourselves, and even though I was under the weather, we still managed some good quality time, and some new toys. We had fun, but were very happy  to have daddy back home. -Garett had made a package for Tyler for fathers day at daycare, and could not wait to give it to him when he got home. He made him a drawing with answers to questions like they did for mothers day, a card, and put in a bunch of bbq tools and an apron. We were going to go all out, but I wasn't feeling so great, like running around all over gods country shopping for him. So I flat out aske...

Thoughts for Father's Day 2016

Image
What is a dad/father? This is for All the poor dads out there. The ones that don't get any credit. The players behind the scenes. I'm not sure why society still believes that fathers are hands off, not the nurturing ones, not the confidants. I feel like perhaps the rest of the world has had a different experience of what fatherhood is/ consists of than I have had.  Let's see. One of my earliest memories in life is running backwards in a parking lot, probably much too young to have been running backwards, since I likely hadn't mastered the art of running forward yet. I fell and skinned my knee, and before a tear could even fall from my eye, I was in my dads arms.  My experience of a father growing up is a lot of quality time. I was my dads side kick, I loved to be around him. To stare at him. To imagine if I would be anything like him as I grew up. I involved myself in many things he did--working on the lawn, running errands, played on sports teams he coached, went into ...

Family room/eating area complete

Image
These pictures were taken around dusk and they are so dark. Sorry. The colour is like a clay brownish colour. I don't know how to explain it, and the colour names on the can mean nothing haha.  So here's one view : Another view : Another view: View of the eating area: Here are the before pics : Also an update on the front living room. We added more cushions on the couch , put an area rug down, and hung the curtains /rods/hold backs. I just need an ottoman now I think :)
