Tuesday Random

I suspect the next two weeks will pass by at a snails pace, as is the way when you're counting down to something. Lots to do at work to get ready for my departure, but not a lot of motivation to do so--which makes the day even longer, lol. It's a vicious cycle.

Today there is a birthday lunch for two girls I work with, so will probably hit that up and then go to the dollar store with a few others to grab what we need for our Divisional day on Thursday. I assume today will go by a bit quicker :)

Yesterday we ended up ordering from a place called Fiazza Fresh Fire Pizza downtown. It was so delicious, and I probably should have stopped eating much before I did. I ordered the Capri pizza, which is kalamata olives, goat cheese, roasted red peppers, artichoke and pesto sauce instead of tomato sauce. Oh my word. so tasty. definitely give them a shot if you're close to Murray street, or if you are in the zone for ubereats!! It also got here in like 20 minutes. and the driver was so stinkin' friendly (they all have been so far!!)

When I got home last night, Garett asked me for a diaper--he has been fully pee-toilet trained for quite some time now. And for like a month now at daycare also. He doesn't wear diapers during the day, but there is always a period at nighttime (when he does his poop) that he asks for a diaper. We had been trying to figure out a way to get him to do so on the toilet. Nothing was working. Everytime we would try and make him go #2 on the toilet, he would break out into hysterics. apparently it's quite common for boys to have trouble with #2--they think they are losing a part of their bodies. Nothing was working. Then it donned on me--bribery/incentive of a different form. Stickers and a chart may work at daycare, but that's not what this kid really wants. So I said, let's look at the toys r us website together, pick a toy, and you start pooping in the toilet, and then if you do a good job until then, you can have it.

Well, ALL ABOARD the genius mom express! lol. He was SO down with this idea. He said he wants a little robot, so we looked up robots and this is what he picked.

I placed the order and it should be here in a few days. Last night alone he pooped in the toilet three times alone, without prompting. Each time, he called me in to see. I told him now he can poop at daycare too, and he said YES because pooping in diapers is for babies, not big boys with robots!!

I can't believe the idea of a gift incentive didn't come to me sooner--sighs. Oh well. Now I know he is totally ready, and it's not just us forcing him into doing something he's not willing to do, which always causes set backs/stunts the development.

It's so nice to be out of the diaper period (except for one diaper overnight) now, right before the baby comes. I did NOT want two in a diaper at the same time, and I think there's enough time before the baby comes that he won't suffer any regression into the "I want a diaper too" business.

We made some quesadillas for dinner, and played with lego, read some books (Tyler and Garett's new favourite thing is to go to chapters and buy a book--the newest one is "Batman's Dark Secret" which is a kids version of how a little boy becomes batman. We have read this probably 100 times already).

Garett was in bed by 8:30, we watched one episode of Scandal and we were passed out too. The heat yesterday really tuckered everyone out! We got a lot of rain, and like two rolls of thunder, and that was it. It was up to a tornado warning, down to severe thunderstorm, and then nothing. I can't say this bothers me. I don't mind a thunderstorm, but I don't like when it's a severe one. I'm just happy it passed us over last night :)

Hope everyone had a good Monday back at work (if you were at work), and will be able to get out and enjoy the beautiful day that we have ahead today! Sunny and a perfect temp :) Happy Tuesday!!
