How am I sitting here at my desk again already?! lol It doesn't seem possible that the days can be passing this quickly! Friday night after work, I got home and changed into comfy clothes and we headed right out to Ty's cousin Melissa's house for our prenatal course. When we arrived, we sat down to supper (she made this mexican soup with a side of beef nachos--yum!) and we visited a bit the 4 of us (her and her hubby Robin and myself and Ty). After that, we sat down for the long haul! lol...Ty had traded 2 tons of sand for her pool for this and she definitely made it worth while! She is a trained Doula but is not doing it right now as it is too hectic with kids still in the house (especially if a mommy goes into labour at 3am lol). But she advised us, if we do want a doula present they can charge about $600-$1000! I think I'll stick with Ty and the docs (since she trained Ty up well for how to be my coach :)). We learned so much in those few hours! Stages of Labour and comfort measures we can take in each stage to help cope with the pain. How to deal with my body after labour for both natural birth and c-section, swaddling, breast feeding, sleeping rituals, feeding, exercises and stretches to do at the hospital to help promote pelvic expansion, etc...just everything! It was a wonderful night :) I feel SO much more prepared now! I'm in the baby mood now and can't get out--it's where my brain is 100% of the time now lol. We got home around midnight, laid in bed and watched a little tv and headed to sleep. I had an AWFUL nights sleep (too much info running through my brain!) so I was up on and off every hour or so until 4:30 when I just decided to stay up! I showered and started getting ready and watching some tv, etc until we left the house at 8:45 to head to Cornwall for my baby shower. Baby shower 2 was a huge success as well--everyone had fun I think and we got lots of nice things :) I have noticed though that you don't get much of what you NEED at baby showers--people enjoy buying cute little clothes, towels, blankets, etc too much..so my to-buy list is still huge LOL. We hung out for a bit after visiting and then headed home. We got home around 5:15 and to say I was exhausted was an understatement. Ty headed out to Rod/Shannon's birthday and I opted to stay behind. I didn't even get to sleep until about 1 am--I got caught up organizing cards and putting all the little gifts away! Oops :) By the end my feet and ankles were SO sore, I thought they might fall off, so I soaked them in cold water for a bit and headed to bed! Sunday Ty was off to paintball for the day and I stayed home and did dishes, laundry, tidied up a bit (all the boxes and gift bags I threw into a pile lol) and made some dinner. I got all of my thank you cards written out (forgot them at home today though so they're not addressed yet) but it feels good to get that checked off! Then relaxed for the rest of the night--watched a few movies, took a bath and ate some leftover shower cake :) Had an AMAZING sleep last night--barely woke up and got almost an extra hour of sleep since I'm 9-5 this week! However, when I woke up, I noticed a woman I work with posted something about "all the snow" on facebook. I shot out of bed and opened the curtains..oh noooo!!!! Snow everywhere! I opted out of driving into town and bussing from there and instead, took the bus that is a bit later leaving from my park and ride but still gets me here crazy early and am I ever glad I did! The first turn off my street I spun out so bad I was facing the opposite direction. I don't care what people say about snow--yes people drive like idiots in it but it DOES make the roads way more slippery--and when I spin out going 2 km an hour and being careful, it is still VERY dangerous...so it IS a big deal. I need winter tires but with needing all this baby stuff and Christmas shopping and all these work lunches and dinners and everything, I just can't do it. I hadn't budgeted for them until the first week of Jan..great! (I was being optimistic hoping this year would be like last year :() This week should go pretty quick, it's not overly busy! Weds I only have a half day (if I come in at all) because I am meeting Dr. McCarthy at the hospital for our first appointment--looks like I'll be alone--since Ty probably can't leave work and my parents hate driving in snow too..fun! This weekend coming will also be busy, unfortunately. We were supposed to be in the parade in Winchester on Saturday (Ty was going to be driving the Adessa float) but I think he has backed out of that as we also have a 30th for our friend Chris that night. We weren't going to go originally, but we figured it would be nice to surround ourselves as much as possible with people on the same page in life as us as per Lissy's advice--same age, homeowners, married, kids, careers, etc..should be interesting anyways! It's only a few hours (since they have a kid at home lol) so it's not like dedicating a whole night at least. We'll be home in time for our usual bedtime LOL All I really care about at this point is how few days I have left to work. I cannot wait to be off and have time to myself and to relax and sleep in while I still have time to do so before baby comes. It'll be so healthy for our little man for me to be off for a bit, able to eat well all the time, get enough sleep, not be stressed about work/driving in the winter, etc..I think it was very smart to not stay until I had originally planned (original date was Jan 14 as my last day..yuck!) Hope you all had a good restful weekend and are looking forward to our week of snow :| :(
