List of Pregnancy Essentials

You know what? Being pregnant is like riding a bike. You never forget what it's like, and you need the same stuff pretty well every pregnancy--or this is proving true for me, at least!

1) TUMS. In all shapes and forms. This one cannot be stressed enough. I take them pre-emptively before bed, because I know as soon as I lay down in bed, that's when it generally hits me the hardest. Often I get heartburn if I let myself get too hungry also. So pretty much everything gives you heartburn. Keep these puppies handy, they will save you from a lot of unnecessary heartache (literally, lol).

2) Wedge Pillow: Trust me on this. I find I have been using this more in my second pregnancy. I don't toss and turn as much this time around, so it's less of an annoyance to have under me. This helps support your growing belly, or put it between your knees for that extra support. I find it to be a good transition pillow before needing the "my husband hates his life" body support pillows, lol

3) Baby Center: When I was pregnant for Garett, I bought the "What to expect while you're expecting" book. I thought it was great at the time, but all of the information in the book can be found online, and I find the Baby Center site has more information, and more useful links that would be of interest to reading. The internet is good for that: giving you LOTS of information to take in, haha

3)Ivory Body Wash: I had a reaction to heavily perfumed body wash previously. I have since made the switch to Ivory. I find it doesn't have a strong smell (and it smells so clean, which I love), and is gentle on my sensitive skin (pregnancy makes my skin SO sensitive and dry). So I use this, and then moisturize afterwards also--getting a good body moisturizer is also a must. With Garett, it wasn't so bad, but this girl has me reaching for so much moisturizing items!

4) Materna: This offers a good base of nutrients/vitamins that you need for growing baby. Of course, keep a diet high in these things as well to ensure you're getting enough. Iron is especially important for me in pregnancy, so I take a separate Iron supplement. But my doctor has told me that even if I'm not "pre-conception, pregnant or breastfeeding", this is a better alternative to once a day's.

5) Jamieson Omega 3+DHA: I take this one as an extra. It's good for me, and for developing baby's brain.

6) The Spoiled Mama items: With growing belly/chest area, I think prevention is very important when it comes to stretch marks. I used this with Garett, and am again using it this time around. I love it because it's toxin free/vegan items, so I trust rubbing it onto my skin. It feels luxurious, it has a good smell, and I think it works! I have the bump gloss and the tummy butter, and haven't developed any new surprises.
