Things I want from this summer
With the exception of the obvious: not swelling up like a whale and sweating to death everyday, I have a few wants from this summer!
-Nice flowy clothes wardrobe. I hate going to my closet in the hot months and realizing that everything is not breathable materials (chiffon, polyester blends, etc). I want to make a wardrobe of loose fitting cotton, linen, etc.
- A nice tan. It's hard on really hot days, because I don't feel like sitting out when it's over 32 degrees--and it seems to hit this temp ALOT in the summer. Our backyard gets LOTS of sun in the new place though, so should be doable this year :)
- To eat ice cream, milkshakes, popsicles, freezies whenever the heck I want. Bottomless. Garett enjoys a good popsicle, so we usually have a yummy variety in the house. I love the lime-y ones, and he doesn't, so we are a good tag-team on the popsicle boxes!
-To do a lot of fun outdoor activities again. We had a very successful summer last year with fairs, markets, splash pads, pools, picnics, etc. We will try and keep up that pace this summer since Garett enjoys these things so much. I presume around mid july I will be too huge to do anything, but want the boys to have fun!
- To have friends over one last time before the baby--I'm counting my sprinkle party as this. Because I'm super running out of time to plan anything else, so that's it!
-Get the house all decorated and furnished. We are so close. So close I can taste it, and I cannot wait to just sit back and revel in the completeness once it's done and can no longer see any yellow colour :) Painting the rooms to reflect our style just makes the house FEEL cleaner. The yellow leaves a really disgusting feeling I find.
- Finish opening stuff for the baby, getting everything ready to go, washing clothes and hanging them, putting the cover on the recliner, get the breast pump all sterilized and ready to go (along with the bottles), find a home for everything and WAIT :)
-To have a stress free, smooth sailing labour again. My experience with Garett gave me unrealistic expectations, I think. I was so textbook for him. Only a few stitches, very little discomfort after the fact (aside from sore muscles from pushing), 9 hours from water breaking at home to holding him in my arms, and a very easy baby...I can feel myself jinxing it as I type this, lol.
- To have a Sommersby apple cider with 100 ice cubes two weeks after the baby is born, sitting outside. alone, with a magazine.
-To get some flowers planted in the front soon. I hate gardening/weeding though, so this might be an issue. I might just leave the little shrubs that are there now and call it a day haha
-Get a patio put in out back on one of Tyler's free Friday afternoons. And to build a sandbox.
- Widen the driveway. We can't live through winter at this house with only room for 1.5 of our vehicles and the winter parking bans.
- Maybe stay in a hotel with Garett for a night. I would like to take him to Brockville or Gananoque for a little trip. This would have to be soon though.
- Take Garett to the Splash Wave Pool--there's an awesome kiddy area and I think he would love it.
- Rent a cottage for a couple nights. Tyler has been wanting to do this with Garett, but finding the time is the challenge :)
- Take Garett out fishing. He's been dying to get out there with his cool fishing rod from his grandpa.
- Get some cool new outside water toys. I like to make a kill every year on these things. Though I imagine he will enjoy his slip and slide more this year than he did last summer.
- Start making our own smoothies again. We did this for a while and it was a huge hit. They are whole-family approved, and I am craving them. I think they will also be a must when my milk comes in, and will help me get what I need without having to eat huge meals, and will keep my supply up
-Make some freezer meals and lactation cookies ahead.
-What do you want to do this summer??
