My long weekend recap

This weekend was the semi-annual fishing derby that Tyler always attends. Originally he had too much work on his plate, and he didn't think he would be able to get out of town until Friday evening. He didn't like this idea, so he worked hard to pack in a bunch of work to a later Weds, and going in for a half day on Thursday. He got his fishing license at the last minute, stopped at the store for a few things, packed at home and headed out Thursday later in the day (around 3). So I immediately booked off Friday when I found out he was skipping town a bit early. I knew it would probably be a bit of a rough night for Garett, and wanted us to be able to sleep in a bit.

As suspected, Garett really struggled with daddy gone. I usually handle bedtime, but he was really struggling with the idea of not getting to go to the fishing derby. there were ALOT of tears when I picked him up, and sporadically through the evening. Broke my heart :( He doesn't understand it's just not safe for him there until he's a bit older.

Tyler called us when he got to the cabin, and queue more tears (sighs, lol), and informed us that he was in one of the cabins with no AC. He was already sunburned from work, so this was less than pleasant of a surprise.

G and I had a quick dinner, and played, gave him his bath, laid out his clothes, etc. He didn't fall asleep until around 10, and woke up around 6:15 on Friday morning. Daycare doesn't open until 7:15, so we got dressed, hung out a bit and headed out. I stopped at the bank on the way home to deposit my little cheque from the outgrow outplay sale, and grabbed some breakfast. I went home and proceeded to clean the house. Like, I turned into a different person cleaning. I don't even know what happened but I was DEEP in the zone lol. Nesting took over.

Here was my to-do list, and I got it all done by 2PM:
- Strip all the beds, change bedsheets
- scrub the bathrooms (toilets, sinks, tubs)
- dust whole house
- Vacuum all rugs and carpet upstairs
- sweep main floor and bathrooms
-do the dishes/put away
- finish putting away laundry, and wash all bedding/put away
- Wash all interior windows, mirrors
- dust blinds
- empty all garbage cans and wash them
- organize toys
- bring down empty boxes from nursery furniture/put in garage
- move base of hutch/shelf into nursery closet
- mop all main floor and bathrooms

I was sweating up a storm, so decided to grab a shower, ate a quick bite and headed to get Garett.
We decided against cooking dinner, and ordered in some food instead. My mom was heading up for the weekend, and they were arriving a bit later than I expected, and having already eaten, I was happy to have a night off cooking :) G was happy too. We played and lounged around until they arrived.

My dad stayed for a bit to hang some stuff on the walls for us :) After he left, we had a quick snack and G went to bed late, again! haha..he didn't pass out until about 10:15, in my bed with me. He tosses and turns so much in my bed. And I struggled to sleep because everytime I would drift off, he would move and get closer to the edge!! I moved him back to the middle a few times, and he would immediately move back over to the edge again. What a boy! I finally fell asleep for a solid 4 hours around 1:45. He woke me up at 6:05 hungry.  Thanks. haha

We all went down and I cooked up some bacon and eggs and toast, we ate breakfast and my mom got to work, lol. She came down to paint a picture on the wall in the nursery. She did most of it in about 3 hours, which was much less than we anticipated. She dabbled here and there later in the day as well, and I just love how it turned out. Very whimsical and an original piece for the little princess on her way:)

We went out to walmart to grab a few things all together, and Garett scored a few new toys--I usually make him pick one thing, but because grandma was there, he got two. He picked an Iron Man lego juniors set, and mom got him a firestation playdough set. We grabbed some wendys and headed home to eat. The A/C in my car is on the fritz AGAIN, so it made it pretty sticky of a drive with the windows down. (note to self: make an appointment to get this fixed, lol).

We played a bit, and my mom took G to his room to read some stories and play a bit, and I grabbed a 1 hour nap. It was glorious lol. When I got up, I took him outside to play with his little lawn mower, tractor and bubbles for a few minutes, and he ate a freezie. it was short lived because of some bees flying around that he's afraid of. So we just relaxed and played around inside in the AC after. We baked some brownies for dessert also.

Tyler messaged me that morning saying he's had enough of the heat, and he was coming home around dinner.

I cooked up some chicken and bacon tortellini and garlic bread. Right after we finished eating, Tyler walked in and ate his bowl of it. Garett and my mom slept in his bed that night, and we all went to bed around 9. I could hear G and grandma having a bit of a chat before I shut off the monitor, and we watched an episode of scandal and passed out.

Me, G and my mom were all up around 6:45, I made some eggs and sausage and toast for breakfast, and Tyler slept in until almost 9. I guess he didn't get much sleep in the heat at the derby (yuck). Probably some sun stroke there! He said they were applying sunscreen every 20 minutes out in the boat. That's not my idea of fun! I don't even apply it that much in the Caribbean! lol

My dad was there early in the afternoon, hung the rest of my stuff for me, and ordered in some swiss chalet for lunch. While we were waiting for that, Ty and G ran to get a turkey baster and cleaned out thomas' tank. We visited a bit and then casey and Shannon stopped in with rylie to drop off some of tylers stuff from the derby. My parents left to head home, and shan and casey left shortly after. We arranged some stuff on the shelves, tidied up the house a bit and the boys left again to bring garbage to the store, go pick up a few things and came home. In the time they were gone, I had a bath and read some of a book I just started :) The boys organized the yard a bit so Tyler could mow it, came in and we had a really simple dinner. We lounged most of the evening and G played in our room while we watched a bunch of Scandal. It was a nice relaxing evening. Until bed. G was struggling again because he had two nights of sleeping with other people. He passed out around 9:45 and we all slept soundly after that :)

I wish I could take Friday off every week! I just love how long weekends feel with that extra day! But, on the upside, only like 35 more days until I am off for my 12-15 month maternity leave with a new little monkey :) Can't wait!!

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!
