Thursday Thoughts

Things are getting more official with maternity leave approaching! Yesterday pay/benefits people sent me my maternity leave contract/letter and forms I need to get filled out and submitted.

I filled in my 6 week top up form, my health insurance continuance form, my maternity/parental leave form, and called the Pension Center to set up my buy back payments for when I return. I went home and wrote out my 12 post-dated checks to continue with my upgraded health insurance while I'm off, and emailed the benefits folks back with a few questions about the two week waiting period and my ROE being sent to service Canada. I guess it's like riding a bike--all of this stuff seemed so complicated last time I went off--and while there were a number of hiccups through the year with my pays, it went pretty well, so I am less worried this time around.

I picked Garett up from daycare yesterday--the theme this week is the food groups, and they were sorting "junk food" from "healthy foods" when I got there, like a scavenger hunt type thing. So I waited a few minutes for them to finish up their round. It makes me sad when I pull him out of there when he's having so much fun. He talked about everything he eats on the way home and how they are healthy foods, except for ice cream. I explained to him that it's ok to eat ice cream sometimes, as long as it's not everyday. Now I have the health food police living at my house.

When we got home, he had a quick snack, and we played for a while. I wasn't feeling great, so I put my feet up for a bit while he rode his bike around on the main floor, lol. Tyler got home around 5:45, and the boys headed out to drop off the stamp mats Tyler had rented for the pour that day, and I headed out to the grocery store. We were in pretty dire need of groceries at this point, so I knew I had a huge haul to grab, and didn't want to have G in tow when it's already getting pretty difficult to do the rest of it.

I got so much food. I had to get pretty creative with how it was put away, lol.And my boys came to the rescue when I got home. They carried the groceries in, and I just stood in the kitchen while Garett handed me each item and I put it away (giving me the play by play on what it was and if it was healthy enough as we went, lol).

Afterwards, it was like 8:15, so I gave him his quick nighttime snack. He had a few crackers, some red pepper jelly and a laughing cow. He was supposed to spread a bit of each on his crackers, but he took the laughing cow triangle and stuck the entire thing in his mouth while I was throwing out the wrapper! I couldn't believe he could even fit that in his mouth, let alone down it (chewed and swallowed) in like 3 seconds, if that! I guess he was hungry. I gave him another triangle and he ate it like a normal human.

Ty went to the basement to send an estimate quickly, G watched a short episode on the ipad, and  I took a quick shower and laid out my clothes and his clothes for today.

We were all in bed, passed out by 9:00. Heaven.

Tonight should be pretty quiet. I took out some turkey to make some burgers again since they were such a hit last time.

Friday evening, Tyler is having his concrete employees over after work. They desperately need to have a staff meeting. Their days are so busy, they don't really have a chance to communicate about things, and Tyler needs to sit them all down and have a chat. He has a good crew this year, but there are definitely some kinks to work out. So we may bbq for them, or order pizza (less cleanup).

This weekend is packed now--it started off with no plans, but we always take that as a challenge, I guess lol. Saturday we made an appointment for the F150 truck to go in--just a tire rotation, oil change, etc. While that's happening (will be about an hour), we are going to go and grab some breakfast, and then head to the General to pre-register. We are so late doing this, but I think it will be ok--I just have to find the form at home --I got it, and then we moved, and now it's in a mystery location (one of those spots I thought "I'm going to pack this and put it here, so I know exactly where it is--except now I can't remember).  We have plans to paint the powder room and hallways/stairwells on Saturday once we get home. I think it will be a crock pot dinner kind of day.

Sunday we want to hit up the little fun fair happening a few minutes from our house. Even just to walk around, get Tyler a candy apple, and me some cotton candy. If they have bumper cars, we will go on that, but as for the rest of the rides, I don't trust them lol Afterwards, we would like to get the painting completed (living room, family room, kitchen), but we will see if Tyler has three rooms worth of energy in him haha.

It's a long weekend, but on Monday, Tyler has a big meeting at his gaming store, for most of the day, so Garett and I might swing by there and run around a bit since nothing else is really open, and probably lots of outside play. I think the splash pads are all opening, so if it's nice and warm, we may head to the nice one at Trim. I love the playground there too.

We have a busy week coming up, so I hope this weekend is riddled with naps (come on, G-man!), baths and lounging outside!

Hopefully everyone has a wonderful Thursday:)
