Weekend Recap [Date Night, Commiccon, OGOP Adventure]
It's funny how our weekends are either brutally busy, or totally empty! This weekend was one of the busy ones!
Thursday evening I had to deliver all my boxes to the Outgrow Outplay sale about 20 mins from my house. My drop off time was for 5:30 and I was feeling pretty disorganized. I had taken a day off the Friday before to get all the tagging done, but at the last minute, my SIL told me about the consignor agreement I had to print, get a stamped envelope, and label some bins to bring along for when I had to pick stuff up on sunday. I got it all done, they went through my stuff, and I put it all on the racks and headed home. Garett was chillin' with Granny while I was gone there, and Ty was having dinner with a friend, so he picked G-man up on the way home and we settled in for the evening.
Tyler had set up for Comiccon weekend on Thursday (they had a big booth and the big gaming space again this year), so it was a big job. Unfortunately for him, they ate dinner at Eclipse buffet (my least fav place ever) and he ate some room temp oysters...and so the weekend began.
Friday he was working comiccon , but went home very early sicker than a dog--his self diagnoses was food poisoning. Friday night, G and I just played around downstairs, ordered in some St. Hubert and I slept in his bed to stay out of our room since Ty was up for the washroom every hour or so.
Saturday G wpke me around 6:50AM and we packed his suitcase, had some breakfast, hung out a bit. Tyler headed to comiccon against his better judgement. My parents came and picked G-man up for the evening since it was our date night. Tyler came home early and had a nap all afternoon. He was starting to feel better, so decided we were ok to head out for our date.
We left the house around 5, got to Lansdowne and immediately regretted our decision. We really thought it would be a laid back evening. But it was anything but. I should dedicate a whole post to this, but I will keep it minimal.
I hate Lansdowne on a good day. It is a logistical nightmare to manoeuvre around. Add the tulip festival and this concert on top of an already busy normal Saturday evening, and you get waved down by the parking people--"sorry--did you pre pay for parking?"
Us: "Um no. we were never given the option"
Them: "oh ok. Well the underground lot is full, so you have to drive around and find a spot on bank"
Us" That's 1 hour parking. We are here until 11. 5 hours from now.
Them: "Better find a spot on a side street then"
Us: Driving around for 30 minutes finding a spot 7 blocks away. Good thing I wore flats.
We get to the pedestrian village part. We decide to try out a restaurant I've heard great things about. They wouldn't take our reservations (fine..not a lot of nice places take weekend reservations, I get it), so when we walked in, they said "at least 1.5 hours"...what??? nevermind, we will go somewhere else. This happened at two other places. We were sick of walking by now, so settled at South St. Burger..a really nice burger joint with really fresh ingredients and high quality meat. Fine. it was good. But it wasn't a burger and fries kind of evening. We had dressed up to try and make it a special night. At least we have fun together, because this pregnant momma was already getting peeved lol
We stopped at an Italian café on the way over and Ty got a chai latte, and I got some frozen drink.
The doors opened an hour before the show, so we thought we would go in, find our seats, enjoy our drinks and wait.
The lady at the door flagged us down and said they probably won't let us in with our drinks. Even though the places inside were selling drinks?? ok...Tyler threw his out, and I chugged half of mine and threw it out. Only to find out from security inside that we would have been fine. thanks. tack on $18 to our overpriced evening, lol
We attended Piano Guys--youtube sensations--piano and cello and some vocals. We really enjoy their stuff--blending contemporary music with classical music in unique ways.
We sat down--we had excellent seats, 5 rows from the front, pretty well center. We expected the floor seats to be folding chairs. But we didn't expect literally no room between them. It was fine until it wasn't.
My neighbour arrived. She was probably 500lbs, had a cane, and plopped right down without looking. I am just over 7 months pregnant right now, and even I fit within the parameters of my seat. But she was literally sitting her right butt cheek on me. It was heavy. and HOT. she was radiating so much heat on me , I was uncomfortable in the sleeveless top I wore. I had to sit at a severe angle from the moment she arrived--which isn't comfortable normally-add an active fetus to the mix and a growing belly? no.
Tyler was so squished between me leaning into him and his neighbour. Plus he wasn't feeling 100% still. I would put my arm around him to give us a bit more space, but the girl behind us was leaning forward the whole time, and everytime she clapped, she would hit my arm and tylers head.
The woman beside me also decided she was going to tap her foot to the beat. Except she had no rhythm, so basically she was just jiggling her hot sweaty leg against mine. She also was what a call a "perpetual commenter"...everything they said on stage, she felt the need to respond like they were talking directly to her. "Now, we will show you a blend of a Taylor Swift and Mozart"...her" oh. interesting! Let's hear it!"....no. SHUT UP. THEY AREN'T TALKING TO YOU.
This is about when my hormones were at their peak. I almost ripped out my hair, screamed, cried, stomped my feet and ripped my shirt open like the hulk in rapid succession.
Her breath. Oh, her breath. Smelled like someone crawled up into her mouth and croaked.
Tyler was feeling like garbage, so took out his medicine from my purse and went to dump it into the little cup to drink it. And it spilled all over his hands. immediately sticky.
So it was then they announced intermission. We were an hour into the 2.5 hour show (and they started 20 minutes late). He said "want to go outside?" I said "YES. Please". He said "and never come back again?" I said "I love you"
The show was good, but we just couldn't take it for one second longer.
We stopped at the Italian café again and got hot drinks for our 15 minute walk back to the car in the damp cold.
See you later , Lansdowne (errr...probably not).
I emailed them as soon as we got home. I don't want anything from it, I just want them to know how horrible of an experience it was. And I needed to take it out on someone. Blame someone. It helped.
We got home around 10, so we watched one episode of Scandal and were both toast anyways. Off to dream land!
Sunday we slept in a lot . Like until 8:15! Tyler had been up every 2-3 hours in the night, so it was a really bad sleep. But felt good to be in bed until that time.
My parents got back with G-man around noon. Tyler was getting ready to head out to comiccon's last day--he was feeling mostly better by then.
He took some immodium and was fine all day. Once my parents left, Garett and I had a light lunch and headed out to "kids hour" at comiccon.
We arrived. The main lot was FULL. What sorcery is this? I have the worst luck with parking lots lol
I parked in a field across the street. it was like 2 km to the door. Good thing it wasn't windy and cold (not). I bundled G up in his stroller with a blanket and such, so at least he was warm. Me? no. Tyler met us about half way and we went into the chaos. We missed kids hour by like 20 mins by then. But G still managed to have a blast. He met the 501st guys (darth, storm troopers, R2D2, etc), shot a storm trooper and hit him twice in the heart area! lol, and posed as a storm trooper. We walked around a bit until we couldn't take the crowd anymore (about 30 mins inside). We left. Tyler stayed to work and tear down when it ended at 5.
We grabbed a snack on the way home and G-unit fell asleep HARD in the car, so I drove around a bit more and sat in the driveway for a while when we got home.
When he woke, we went in, ate and then immediately had to head back out to pick up my stuff from the Outgrow Outplay sale that I didn't sell.
Turns out, it was a spring sale, but only the summer stuff I put in sold, really. I had 158 labels made, and only sold 47 of them. It was a fail. But I'm sure the stuff will sell better in the fall, so I will transfer the tags to the next sale, no biggie! But it meant quite a heavy container to bring to the car. One of the volunteers saw me struggling with the bin, and Garett in a stroller, so she carried it to the car for me. Thank goodness for nice people :)
We went home and played a bit until daddy got home around 7. We had some food and hung out upstairs until bed at 8:30. We didn't even watch scandal last night, we were pooped. We were in bed by 9:30 and no one made a peep all night. G was still asleep when I left for work :(
Here is a photo dump in no particular order.

Tired mommy, put makeup on anyways for date night

that sounds like a horrible date night haha! I would have left too!
ReplyDeleteIt was awful!! Huge fail for TD Place.
DeleteI emailed them the second we walked in the door. I was fit to be tied!! It takes a lot of planning for us to be able to put a night aside for the two of us to go out alone--and as I get more uncomfortable and we have the baby, that first little while after the baby is born is a write-off!
They emailed me back already asking how to contact me to give us a night of luxury/a more positive experience. I said I will talk to them, but we really don't have the time or ability to do that for quite some time--just wanted to put it out there how bad of a taste it left in my mouth.
LOLOL!!!! Sorry, I know it's not funny, but your description of her butt cheek on you then the clapping, omg lol!
ReplyDeleteI only go to Lansdowne for the Farmer's Market because it's worth it...and you don't have to pay for parking on Sunday's. Sucks that date night was a disaster though. Hope Ty is feeling better.
Oh no!!! Only 47 items were sold?? :(
Ugh, they were the worst type of people. no class whatsoever.
DeleteI literally go anywhere else for farmers markets lol the one at centrum is opening in June and it's pretty good. I even prefer the market over Lansdowne, sadly. free parking is a perk , I guess , but it's free parking on weekends most places . Definitely not enough to get us back there lol.
He's feeling good now. He won't be eating at eclipse again lol. I told him he has no one to blame but himself. That place is nasty pants.
Yes! 47! Isn't that insane!? Lol. But as I went through the stuff that didn't sell, it's all pants and sweaters. All the summery stuff sold. So I'll try and offload it elsewhere , or I'll just save the tags for the fall sale. I'm sure it'll sell there. But now I have three huge bins of stuff for fall/winter. I thought I would have less for the next sale ! Haha guess that's the thing about kids! They have lots of stuff because they grow so fast, and it piles up without expecting it. I should just open a consignment store in my house lol
