The day I spent money on myself






I have always been a firm believer of taking care of yourself before all else. Like on a plane, they always tell you to put your own oxygen mask on before helping your child, or anyone else with theirs? You're no good to other people if you aren't conscious.....I guess that's kind of an extreme comparison, but motherhood is extreme also.


I have never been one to poo-poo a little indulgence in myself. That is, until I got pregnant for round 2. I don't know what happened, but I would see myself filling up my virtual shopping carts, and close them, only to go buy MORE clothes, MORE toys, MORE baby stuff, MORE house stuff...because I started putting everyone else first. Why do I need new maternity clothes if Garett only has 25 pairs of pants?? Why do I need these new flats for work if I'm done in 3 months and the baby needs new bedding??? The justifications I previously told myself were falling by the wayside, and I didn't like it.


So yesterday, I was full of mom-guilt, but I set out on a mission. And you know what? I think after a small online-shopping trip, I may have cured myself.


It started with Tyler saying we were getting tickets to go see The Piano Guys at TD Place (we are big fans), so I knew I needed to buy something to wear, since I needed some new stuff to get me through summer, and I always feel better on "date nights" when I have a new outfit. so sue me.



I was a little more practical, since I know it's maternity clothes and I won't be wearing them for too much longer. I will need to get some capris, skirts, dresses and more tops/tanks, but here is what I settled on for now, to dip my toes back into shopping for ME.

I headed over to the Motherhood Maternity Canada site. One thing I hate about maternity clothes is the pricetag. Pants generally start at $60-80, and it kills me, at this point to spend that on one pair that will be useless come august. So I got all of this on sale :)

I knew I needed some new black flats for work, and being pregnant, I'm not a huge fan of heels, since my feet start hurting really bad after a few hours. This also translated into I need nice new flats for the concert ;) See what I did there? I made it all about needing an outfit for an "event" haha. So I went to Spring, which is where I buy most of my shoes, and looked in the clearance section first. I found these "senon" style loafer/flats, and I love them. They are no longer available (I just bought them yesterday, so glad I made it!). I got them on sale for $16.99 from $34.99.





I also bought their "Lashanda" earrings, because they were only $8 , and I liked them :)

Life Lately

-Hosting Bearbrook Ladies night two weekends ago was wonderful! I put out a full charcuterie spread, made a mint/cranberry/grapefruit drink to share, and all of us received a tarot card reading, palm read and a facial read. Pretty much the reoccurring consensus between all three reads (it was two different people doing it) was that my heart and mind live in a state of conflict, but that it works for me to live in a state of balance. -Garett went on his first friend play date ever , and he had so much fun. It was his two best friends that left daycare to start school last year. -happy that while Garett was at his play date, Tyler was home with Keira and I went out for a bit alone, then came home and we finished The Belko Experiment movie before I went to get him. (He was there for two hours) -sad that this week, Garett only has four days left at daycare :( Friday is Keira's first day, while I keep g home with me. Can't believe it's already almost school time!! -as a "goodbye" gift from g, we bought his daycare provider a necklace from peoples that is a heart with some Garnet stones in it (Garett's birthstone), to remember him by, and I ordered an Aukey essential oils diffuser , a doTERRA starter kit and an essential oils mixing guide recipe book thing. Friday fun!

Thank God it's Friday, and that this week is O-V-E-R!!! -It was a stressful week at home. Looking forward to a fun weekend! -I am being audited for child care expenses in 2018--I'm not the only one that thinks we pay too much money in child care! LOL...I submitted my receipts online (they are catching up with the times and it's great!) and turns out I actually underclaimed by a few hundred dollars haha. -Tonight is calm, just hanging at home with the kids. -Saturday I have an eyelash appointment at 2:00, and then we have a sitter coming at 6:00 so we can go to a Wine & Cheese night up the road at our friends house. -Sunday is a day of rest until the evening when Shan comes over and we head into town to go to the Trailer Park Boys Christmas at the NAC (I bought Tyler and I tickets as an early Christmas gift).
