What to pack in you Hospital Bag : ROUND TWO
Looking back on my last hospital bag post when I had Garett, I think I had a few extra things in there I didn't necessarily need. It was all small stuff that I packed extra, so it was no big deal. But I found there were a few things I wish I had had last time also, or certain things I packed that I thanked god I thought of!
So here is my list of necessities this time around!
1) My Rebel T3i. Last time all we had was our cell phones/ipads to take pictures, and honestly? What the heck were we thinking??? Now all of Garett's newborn photos are crummy cell phone pictures. This time, I won't be in the same boat. I want baby girl to have some seriously nice/cute pictures!
2) Last time we sent an edible arrangement and flowers to the nurses after we checked out since they were so amazing. This time, we will likely do the same, but I want to have little things on hand also to hand out when they come and visit! We are ordering these funky syringe pens and some highlighters! Just an extra little thing to say "thanks!"

3)ipads. We were happy to have these last time, since there is wifi at the hospital, and we weren't in long enough to have the tv hooked up. So we kept the tv on the guide channel for light, and watched some stuff on the ipads in between feedings, since we barely slept anyways! I will bring them again!

4) My beloved Jolly Jumper Boomerang nursing pillow!
We had one of these for Garett as well, and boy did it come in handy. If for no other reason, Tyler used it as a really comfy pillow on that crappy little pull out bed the dads get. It padded the entire outside of the chair back for him, and was better than any other pillow we could have brought. It's main use of feeding baby comes secondary lol

5) My Medela breast pump.
Last time, I didn't think to bring this to the hospital because I was convinced we would breast feed. When it didn't work out, and I decided we will pump then, but it was the middle of winter and we lived out of town, I ended up just borrowing the hospital one. Which, I found kind of hurt. So this time I will plan ahead to pump out the colostrum at least, and bring it!

6) Baby hats
When Garett was born, they were out of hats that fit brand new babies. This time, I want to order my own and bring them so we can give little lady her own little flare from the get-go. Also on my list : find an adorable sleeper to bring her home in.

7) Nursing night gowns.
As soon as I am allowed to take off the horrible hospital gowns, I do. Putting these on makes you feel a little more at home, and a little more like a human being again. I brought a bunch last time, and was so happy to have them! And against everyone elses advice, I still wore them, and no they did not get ruined! It also made pumping/feeding and skin to skin time easy peasy!

8) Travel shampoo/body wash, etc.
They made me get up and shower after like 6 hours or something. Last time, I brought full sized bottles, which seems ridiculous now, since I only had one shower there. So this time, I will bring a bit of whatever I need in travel bottles :)

9) Ugh, I was so happy to have these last time. Not to remove makeup, because I certainly don't wear makeup through this experience (lol), but to wipe off the hospital vibes and makes my face feel nice and refreshed.

10) Nivea Body milk is my go to lotion. A full bottle for sure, I was constantly moisturizing. The hospital is SO SO SO dry, and just sucks all the life out of your skin. Even Tyler was putting it on, and he NEVER moisturizes.

11) On the topic of how dry it is, I would have freaked out if I didn't have my trusty Burts Bees ultra conditioning lip balm with me. Between tyler and I, we went through like half of one in the 30 hours I was in the hospital , lol. It's definitely a MUST PACK

12) Some entertainment. AKA: Trashy mags.
Some light reading- because you might fall asleep mid sentence, so don't bring anything too mentally stimulating. I stock up on cosmo, and entertainment magazines.

13) last but not least, you will need a decent sized bag to carry it all in. I like to splurge and get myself a new bag. I had a TNA bag last time, but I don't like how it zips/opens without everything coming out. So I will go more of a duffel bag this time. This is the one I found that I want!

I mean, there are definitely a few other things to pack (like big underwear, and I like to bring my own maxi pads since I hate the hospitals), but these are my "me" items to get me through the stay!
If you're reading this and are having a baby, I wish you luck! I still have a few weeks before I plan to start loading up any bags, but this is what you will find in mine. Daddy's bag is always much easier:
-Snacks
-Deoderant
-toothbrush
-change of clothes
-ipad
Easy peasy!
