Things I have ordered lately

For those that know me well, know I like to shop online because I like to hunt for deals. If shipping is free, and the item is on sale, I will save myself a trip, and have it delivered to the door. Now that Garett likes to sit in the big part of the cart, and I find it hard sometimes to get him out of the top seat when we are on our own (blame the growing belly and my lack of strength lol), it really minimizes car space, so I like to make my big purchases online :)

With a growing family (both with another child coming, and with G literally growing like crazy), we are in perpetual need now of "stuff".

Here are some recent purchases.

1) The Evenflo Maestro Harness Booster Carseat-Phoenix.
-Lately I have been finding that the 3 in 1's we bought when Garett left his stage 1 seat have been looking a little short. I don't like that in the seats he's in now, his head is starting to poke over the top of the back. It doesn't look safe (and I think legally, that isn't allowed??), so away go the Symphony seats, and out come these. I ordered them on Amazon, and got free shipping (Sears wanted $75 to ship two of these to my house). Amazon seemed to be the cheapest also, so ...SOLD. Also, I think Garett will really enjoy having his own cupholders in reach, and will be a bit more comfortable in the head/shoulder area.

2) AngelCare sound monitor
-I was not wanting the motion pad, because I don't trust how people sleep their baby on top of an electronic appliance (it makes as much sense to me as people that charge their cell phones under their pillows at night lol). And we wanted to opt out of the video monitoring again for this baby (its too bright, and I would never sleep if I could watch the kids). I also wanted to try something different than the Avent ones we had for Garett. I liked that this one had a temperature read on it, and most of the same features as our last one.

3) Nuby bath net toy
- I'm really bad for not being able to order something for one kid, and not the other, so I saw this little toy on sale for like $8, and knew G would love it. He's big into catching things with nets, fishing, inspecting things, etc lately. This might be to my disadvantage though, because it's already hard enough to get that boy out of the tub! lol

4) Jolly Jumper Boomerang breastfeeding cushion in Cream colour:
-For Garett, I loved this pillow. I had a sage coloured one with him, which I still have, but it flattened out a bit from use, and the price of a new slip cover is about $25, and a new pillow is $70 (I got mine on sale for $52). And for something I use constantly in the first year, that's a bargain! Not just for breastfeeding, but I would use this to feed G so my arms didn't get tired/so he didn't get so sweaty, and sometimes he napped on it, and I had both arms free to do other stuff.

5) Safety 1st grooming kit in pink:
-If there's anything we found we could never have too many of, it's these kits. We received 3 as gifts for Garett, and things get overused, lost, etc so easily. so I invested in the first girly one :) I liked the items in this kit the best (Medicine dispenser with the nipple seems like a huge win to me).

6) Diaper Genie Elite:
- Self explanatory. Every baby with disposable diapers needs one, or else everything smells all the time! lol

7) Phillips Avent electric steam sterilizer:
-Another item we had for Garett, that I purchased again for this baby. I ended up getting rid of the one we had for G, because we were on well water at the time, and it got a bit of scaly build up in the water reservoir. I am not keen on reusing things that are so important (like sterilization of bottles). So I got rid of it knowing we would buy the same one again. It has two tiers (bottom for bottles, top for nipples, soothers, etc) and comes with a pair of tongs. You can go for a big two tiered batch, or just the top, or just the bottom. It only takes 3 minutes for a cycle, and the fact it plugs in seems more legit to me than ones for the microwave, I don't know why.

8) Medela breastmilk bottle sets.
- I bought 15 bottles with nipples this time. These bottles screw onto my breast pump, so makes for easy storage/use for me. And I have the medela bags to pour excess into as well. Last time I bought just the bottles (it's harder to find these that come with a nipple per bottle), but we really gravitated to these bottles and nipples last time. If we just use them for storage for new baby girl, fine. But I'm hoping to like them as much this time as well :)

9) Penelope Evenflo Travel System:
- We gave away Garett's travel system, because I didn't know if I would have another baby before it expired. Either way, it really looked masculine, and I would want a new one  anyways (never interfere with baby safety! lol). I was torn between this and another version, but settled on this one after a few people backed up my love of this one.

10) Daphne Evenflo Playard:
- This was the other design I liked for the carseat, so I thought I would buy it in the playard instead. We aren't huge playpen advocates, but it's nice to have just in case! Plus I got a good deal on it from babies r  us, so may as well!

I think having had another baby really makes me more aware of where I should focus my money. What not to buy, what I should buy this time, what I should invest more heavily in, what I can "cheap out" on, etc. It really adds a whole new level of insight I didn't have before. And it's fun to shop and plug away at the list of what I need, when I know I have time to play with in order to look for sales, etc. I feel a lot more aware in general this time.

I have quite a large list left, but it's all little things now. We have all of the big purchases done, and now the fun part of getting ready for baby/packing bags, etc begin. 14 more weeks until my due date!
Bring it on, babes!
