Weekend Recap

This weekend was the CAPE event in Cornwall. Since Tyler's store had a booth, and were running the big gaming space, it was all hands on deck at the store and at the event. So we decided Friday night that we would just spend the night at my parents house there. That way G and I could get more visiting in. Ty was originally supposed to only go up on the Sunday, but at the last minute, there was just too much to do, and he ended up having to go for both days. So Friday night we ran some errands--stopped at Canadian Tire for a new garbage can, some compost bags, to check a battery, and we picked up a new bike and helmet for our boy. He picked a Spiderman bike! Little cutie. Then we grabbed some dinner, went home, had baths and we packed our bags!

Saturday morning we didn't set our alarms and slept until almost 7. When we got up, we ran through the Tim's drive thru, went to the store to pick up some last minute things for the show and hit the road. We stopped by my parents really quickly to drop us and our stuff off, and Ty was off to the show. We got a lot of visiting done, which was really nice. We headed out to the campsite with Garett and his bike in tow. Since no one is there camping yet, there's little to no traffic on all the roads, so Garett had a blast on his bike there! We stopped down by the water to throw rocks for a while (he could have done this all day long). Went home, and helped Pa vacuum the pool, played on the deck a bit, and dug in the dirt. We popped into the toy store and grabbed a magnifying glass (he's really into inspecting things--bugs, mostly--lately), grabbed a late lunch, and headed back to the house to rest and play a bit. Garett did not nap at all, even though he was exhausted. We met up with Tyler at 5:30 for some dinner, and then G-man went back with my parents, and I hopped in the truck and we had to stop at shoppers for a charging cable and a toothbrush for G (Ty forgot G's suitcase at the front door of our house, and all we really needed while there was a toothbrush for him). Garett went to sleep around 9:30, and I don't remember my head hitting the pillow I was so tired. I had a really uneven sleep, but any rest is better than nothing at this point when you're that tired!

Sunday:
We were up bright and early, ready for the party (G was blowing a noise maker by 7 AM, ready to celebrate). We went for brunch and Tyler went to the show from there. We had a few errands to run, and visited with a few other family members for a while--Garett explored their trailer, and learned a bit about fifth wheel tow hitches, which he talked about all night last night to daddy, lol. We played quietly in the basement and had some snacks before the party started. I was hoping he would fall asleep on the couch, but he did not, so I knew it would be an early night for the boy. I think the party went so well. My niece looked like a little princess, so cute! And the food was good, as always. The boys helped her open her gifts and then they played with her toys after LOL #secondchildproblems. She was content as can be though just to watch :) My sister had bought them some fun stuff to play with outside , so we did that for a while, but the day wound to a close shortly after gifts, since it was getting later in the day :(. Everyone headed home, so G and pa went out to dig in the dirt some more, had a snack at the table, and shortly after Tyler was back, tired, and had to get to Ottawa before the store closed to buy a new hitch since the places in cornwall were out of the size he needed. So we packed up and headed out around 6:15, I think it was. Garett fell asleep before the 138. Woke up briefly while I talked about the party (to put in his two cents, lol) and then was out cold for the rest. I waited in the car while he slept when we got to the store. We unloaded the car, and Garett woke up with a quick burst of energy for about an hour, and then he headed to bed at 8:45, not to be heard from again lol. We watched one episode of Scandal and we were also sound asleep before 10 :)

We both slept in a bit beyond our alarms this morning, a little tired still, and we had to drag Garett out of bed. poor kid. Bet he will nap early at daycare today! lol

We all had such a wonderful weekend--I love when things align perfectly like that. Life is so crazy lately, that we so rarely get to have that much time to visit--or any time at all, it feels like! Happy we got to do it :)

I need to find some time this week to catch up on the growing piles of laundry, dishes, clean a bit, and hopefully find Tyler some time to paint the rooms upstairs!

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend as well! :)
