Weekend Recap
Here we are again, Monday. You always seem to show up just as I was getting used to weekend life. And onto a string of full 5-day weeks, which I'm not used to after the last few weeks, lol.
This weekend was pretty low key, but still felt busy.
Friday was closing day on the other house, so we picked up our cheque at the lawyers around 4:30, stopped at the butchers, went to the Metro by our house and got cooking. We had a few friends over for a bbq, and made some rib eye steaks, green beans, roasted potatoes and sweet potatoes, greek salad, sautéed onions and mushrooms, and Sharon brought some salmon cakes. Garett ate mostly just steak (he decided steak was THE BEST that evening, lol). I had a nice glass of alcohol free white wine (not bad actually) with dinner, and it was a nice way to cap off the week. Everyone was gone by about 1, G was in bed by 9, and I was in bed around 12. Tyler struggled to stay awake with everyone a little while longer, and I didn't even feel him come to bed that's how exhausted I was haha
Saturday we were all up around 7:30. We made G some breakfast and lounged a bit before heading out to the bank. Garett, as always, stole the show. The teller was so taken with Garett. I had him sitting up on the ledge while we signed things and Garett was trying to hand the teller his toonies that he had in his pocket. The teller disappeared for a moment and reappeared with a green TD piggy bank for his best customer. Garett was pretty thrilled alone by that (even though he has many piggy banks on the go at home lol), but was over the moon when he asked Garett to do the stamps for him. Oh boy. He got to do two stamps and wanted to stamp a few more things, so he gave him a piece of deposit paper and G hammered a few more down. On the way out, he shouted behind us "THANK YOU, AGAIN" and laughter erupted throughout the bank. He is always so proud of himself when he puts smiles on other peoples faces. it melts a mommy's heart seeing that look of pride cross his face. God, I love him.
After the bank, we went and grabbed a bit of breakfast, and Tyler brought us home while he ran into work for an hour. When he got home, we all napped together on the bed. Though the boys sleep for much longer than I am able. Like an extra 2 hours longer than my naps. Oh well. I caught up on some tv downstairs, and did some online shopping.
After the boys woke up, we decided to head out again to Dulux to get all the paint we needed for our upstairs. We had big plans to knock out all the bedroom painting this weekend (lol).
The top colours are the ones we chose:
Green: Garett's dinosaur room
Green: Garett's dinosaur room
Blue: Garett's "under the sea" bathroom
Grey: Master (not shown is the pewter-y grey for our ensuite)

Purple: Nursery
We also bought some flat white paint for the ceilings, and some semi gloss white for the baseboards and window frames (these desperately need new coats!). Tyler also got some nice new canvas drop cloths, roller cage, some sleeves, etc. Garett had a lot of fun looking at rollers that were "baby sized" and naming all of the painting gear he saw around. He was also in heaven because there was a water cooler there (boy he sure does love those things), and in the process managed to spill an entire cup of it. We were the only ones in the store though, and it was an easy clean up :)
After we left the paint store, we were feeling hungry, so we went to East Side Mario's. We all got a little carried away with the salad, soup and bread before our mains arrived, so we packed up almost our entire meals to-go.
When we got home, we saw a bunny out in the backyard. Garett has been asking to put out his little wind bicycle thing from his Granny, so we bundled up, went out and put it in the back, and brought out a few cut up carrots to put with it. The bunny never came back, and G has been religiously checking :( So I will put more out on the top step and hope he comes back. I suspect his visit was a fluke, since there's very small spaces to enter our yard, and if he saw nothing there to eat earlier when he hopped through, I doubt he will be back :(
On Sunday, we were up bright and early again, went out to Walmart (which PS needs a loonie in the carts now, and we had no loonies on us--just quarters and toonies? UGH) so we grabbed some smoothies at Tim Horton's, went in to see if they had what we wanted (nope), so left and went over to Canadian Tire. We needed a sorting system for our garbage/recycling/organic waste. The biggest change of moving into town is NO mixing your recycling, and they're on two week cycles. So like one week will be garbage and plastics and metals, and then the next will be organic waste and paper/cardboard or something. Step one was getting a sorting system in the house. Step two was putting the bigger bins up in the garage. Step three will be printing the calendar because right now, anyone's guess is as good as mine as to what week means what!!
Once we were done there, we planned on going out for Lunch, but a certain boy passed right out in the back seat, so we went with Tyler to do an estimate in Cumberland, and G slept the entire time. We decided to go home and eat our leftovers since Garett slept through the entire ride home as well.
Once he ate a bit, and we finished our food, Shannon and Casey and Rylie popped by for a quick visit to bring a piece of gear back, and once they headed out, I finally actually purchased g's new bedding and sheets from Sears (now that we have his paint), we did some laundry, played in the basement, we all took relaxing baths, and it was a pretty early evening!
The weekends are never long enough! But at least Garett woke up happy to be going to daycare this morning. I wish we were so enthusiastic about going to work! lol
I popped in to get some gas (first time I have had to top up since we moved!!!) and noticed a weird noise in one of my wheel wells? Almost like a squeaky spring. But like, really loud. So Tyler will need to break out his mechanic school side and take my car for a spin tonight to see what's up. God, I love being married to a man that can literally do everything! Supermannnn! lol

Hopefully everyone has a wonderful week, and enjoyed their (too-short) weekend!!
Happy Monday!
