Thursday Thoughts

- I don't know where the time is going in the evenings, but somehow being able to run errands at night is taking over my life LOL

-Yesterday it took me an hour to get to the daycare to get Garett. This is normally a 15 minute drive. I think it was a mixture of people not knowing how to drive in the snow and also there was literally no salt/sand on the roads and it was a full on skating rink on the 174. We drove 5km/hr most of the way up.

-Garett is doing so well at his new daycare. It is a very structured environment, and he has really embraced it. I am so happy for him. I don't know if it's just me, but he seems to be even happier than usual since he started there.

- After I got home last night around 4:30, Tyler was home waiting for us. Garett had been hounding me all the way home to go out and play in the snow. I knew this was up daddy's alley, so they bundled up and played in the snow. I headed back out to Shoppers and Metro for some items we needed. Came home, and made a 5-cheese macaroni and cheese casserole.

- I worked on scissor skills a bit with garett last night. He is REALLY obsessed with cutting paper right now, and could do it for an hour at a time. So I traced out shapes and he cut them out. Keeping it simple for the win!

-I had a bath and read a few chapters of my book in there.

-Garett has his cheese, crackers and green olive snack while watching cartoons (this is his new go-to snack every night for the past few nights lol)

- Tyler did some dishes so I didn't have to, and emptied out the smaller recycling sorting system into the bigger bins in the garage. This is our first week really following the recycling thing and we have less than 1/4 bag of garbage so far. It's amazing how much recycling you should be doing!

- We realized last night that another reason we missed living in the city? The colour of the sky when it snows! We were so used to just blackness at night, living out of town for 5 years. But now, we get to see that purple/yellow glow again--where it feels like it's still dusk. It's so cozy feeling!

- Yesterday I went a little crazy on the Carters/Oshkosh website. I was just in the store and couldn't find ANY sleepers I liked for the baby (I hate the ones with no feet for little tiny babes). And I MUCH prefer the sleepers that zip up the length of the front than alllll of those snaps. So I bought 17 items for the baby and a few things for Garett. He recently got a "bug" shirt where the insects glow in the dark and he is OBSESSED. He wants to wear it everyday. So I bought him another glow in the dark shirt I found that's star constellations. Hopefully he likes that one too. As well as a spring jacket, and some new light weight sporty pants, because carters is the only 3T brand that fits him in waist and length (I find carters stuff a bit shorter than other brands). He's in a weird stage where 2T is too short, but still fits waist wise, but usually 3T are too long and hanging off his little bum. So, carters it is until he fills out a bit more into those 3T sizes!

- his lamp for his room came in the mail last night. Garett loved it. The stones are a bit shinier than I thought (in the picture they look matte like real stones), but they are ultra glossy. Personal preferences aside, I will order a second because he likes it a lot.

-I ordered my nieces birthday gifts yesterday and actually for once, didn't order Garett something also! I am proud of me, lol

- I wanted to go to walmart last night, but I for the life of me cannot remember loonies to use the cart. Someday I will have a loonie on me, and I will leave it in the car as my dedicated "Walmart loonie". ugh.

- Garett's new thing is telling me "mommy , you're beautiful" and it melts my heart and lots of hugs and kisses ensue, and I hope he says it everyday to me until I die. though last night, "beautiful" changed to "pretty" and I think that might be the beginning of the end of that already LOL

-Tyler has sold a few big jobs with his new product already, and is very eager for the real spring and summer to arrive lol. He also confirmed another pool company last night, and is looking forward to his weekend at the backyard show--though the person he's training as a salesman will work most of the show on his own.

What are you thinking about this Thursday??

  1. We have to use a loonie for our carts at Maxi in Aylmer or have this tool that they were giving out - of course the one I had in the car has been misplaced so I leave a loonie in my car for that purpose now!
