Palm Reading
Well, another thing crossed off my 29 before 29 list :)
Last night I left work, went to the LCBO, Dollar Store, Giant Tiger, etc for some things for girls weekend that I needed. I made my way down to the market and found a parking spot. I was a little early so I walked around looking at some of the vendors, and sat on a bench to watch a busker perform with some gigantic hula hoop looking device.
5:30 rolled around and one girl from work showed up, so we sat on the patio in the sun watching people go by, and chatting for a bit. Traffic was horrible so it was about 6 when our other friend came. We decided to move inside because that's where we wanted to eat and where the palm reading was. We took turns, had a drink, ordered two apps each to share (they were having a two for one apps that night). The customer service was atrocious (they were training three new waitresses), and so it took FOREVER to get our drinks and food. We had to remind them three times, and when the bill time came, we had to remind the waitress what we had ....ugh.
Anyways, the atmosphere of Fat Tuesdays is awesome. I do want to go back and catch a duelling pianos show they have once a week. And the palm reading lady is there four nights a week! She is probably about 70 years old, and very....abrupt lol. But she softens up a lot during your 15 minutes with her.
What I liked about the experience is that she didn't ask any questions about you until the end. She was genuinely confused if there was something she said that I didn't agree on, which made me more of a believer. So here's how it went:
She comes to get you (there was a significant amount of people there to see her for a Tuesday night lol), you give her your right hand first (or whichever is your dominant hand--this hand represents the present/your actions/things you have done and the truth of the future). She uses a magnifying glass and a desk lamp and proceeds to count lines and trace all over your hand. Then she does the same to your left (your left hand is your fate hand--paths traced out for you in life, but still only potentials, as we have true control over our fate, these are things that COULD be).
She immediately got a big smile on her face as she started to truly read my Actions/Reality palm. She said it is very rare to see a life line like mine--she showed me each cross roads in my life line, which are not what I thought they were. They are changes in jobs, promotions, etc So she proceeded to rhyme off ages of climbs in my career " 22, 25, 33, 35,37,39,44,45, and 53". She said but what is really special is how deep the line is at 53. That this indicated I will be "noted" for my work--either recognized with a prestigious award, become published, etc. She said at 60 I will be self-made, I will never retire, nor will I want to because I "bore" easily. She said while I might actually retire or leave jobs, it means I will always be doing something to keep myself busy.
Then she said it's incredible how multifaceted I am. She couldn't get over how many "career paths" I had..as she showed me the "career" lines , she traced 6 of them out. She said these are all areas in life I would excel in, that I have many options and would succeed in virtually anything I attempted. Usually people only have 2-3 lines. She showed me where she saw that I was truly destined to do Humanitarian work. Guess I'm in the wrong field lol.
She said I am a stressed out person. Things that stress me out are decision making. She said: Boy, I hope you are married to a strong decision maker that communicates well! She said I tend to bottle my feelings up and let them eat away at me. That this causes self-doubt and insecurities in all aspects of life. These insecurities cause me to over-spend and over indulge in things. She told me I really need to work on expressing feelings and emotions more. But that I am very open-minded, to a fault. She said the combination of bottling emotions, but being very open minded causes me to put up with more than I probably should (at work, relationships of any kind). She said I also am jealous in love, and have deep trust issues--she said it's not that you CAN'T trust, but instead that you just really, really make him work for it. But once I do trust, I love deeply and forever.
She saw two relationship lines, she said she saw one committed, and one marriage. In that order. She didn't see any emotional trauma lines to indicate a divorce or a huge faltering in my relationship. She sees 2-3 children for us.
What threw me off was when she said "you grew up in a family of six, yes?" I said no....just the four of us. She said, no there's definitely 6 lines here--did a grandparent live with you or something that you were very close to? I said No...maybe it's my husband and BIL? And she said no, they don't count because they came later in life. I said no I have no idea, there was only 4. She said there was six souls in your house. Small pets count. I said yes, we had two cats I grew up with....I found it to be a bit of a stretch, but I suppose we did think of them as family, and I take comfort in thinking that they made enough of an impression on my life that there are lines to account for them.
She said I have a tendency to procrastinate hahaha
(yep)
Then she read my Fate hand.
She said this year I am in a 5-work cycle (which doesn't only include work--but everything you do "work" on--relationships, parenting, etc). That cycle means that for the rest of my year (which goes from birthday to birthday), it should be smooth sailing. Come September I will be in a work cycle 6, which is a lot of building, achieving, etc. She said often work cycle 6 indicates pregnancies or promotions at work.
She traced out "event" lines. Each indicate an age when significant things will happen in your life. Promotions, children, meeting your significant other, big moves, deaths that affect you personally, etc. Here are my ages: 19, 25,26,31,35,38,43,44. So far, yes.
19: met Tyler
25: Got married, bought a house (my champagne birthday year)
26: Had Garett
This was pretty much the summed up version. There was a lot of chatter, and then at the end she asked me where I was in life--I said married with one child and she smiled and told me to keep it up lol...ok.
I went back to the table and told the other girls all about it, and they told me about theirs. Turns out , for the most part she was right about everything leading up to now, so we can only gather that the rest will be right as well.
I left feeling reassured and excited for the future--and motivated to figure out my real path. How does one "become" a humanitarian?? ;)
Anyways, for $20 it is a fun way to spend 15 minutes! I highly recommend it :) PLUS, this is what your hand looks like after (well, not exactly..all of our hands looked different) and it's cool to take a picture of! lol
