The kind of mom I want to be

Garett is at such a fun age. He openly loves his mommy, he wants to play ALL day, he is a good sleeper, a good eater, and loves to learn about things. He loves car rides, and every animal. He loves movies and using his imagination. I see everyday spent away from him as a wasted opportunity; To make memories, to giggle together, to build on our relationship and keep it super strong.

There is no denying that I connect with this little two year old. He is more me than anyone else in the world, and we have a strong bond. I love him to death, and no one quite understands us the way we do. I never want this to change.

I want to be the kind of mom that gets to be a stay-at-home mom. I want to seize the moment everyday, and have his heart overflow with memories and feelings of love and nurturing.

I want to be the kind of mom that takes her kids everywhere. On trips, to the park, to museums, shopping, to weed the garden, to the library.

I want to be the kind of mom that loosens the reigns a bit. Go to daycare, have fun, play with friends. Whether it's at daycare , or at home, there is always someone watching from the sidelines to make sure everything is okay.

I want to be the kind of mom that throws crazy birthday parties that all of the kids want to be invited to--not only because G will be the coolest dude in town, but because his momma really understands a good time.

I want to be the kind of mom that Garett will run  to for all of his bo-bo's. Scraped knees, hurt feelings, and broken hearts. I want to be someone he can trust and confide in, and never feel ashamed or embarrassed for that.

I want to be the kind of mom that doesn't care about how dirty he gets. You want to jump in the mud? Go right ahead. You want to slide to home base, hop in puddles, finger paint with your elbows?Be my guest. There will always be a bathtub waiting , a sprinkler that you can run through, a fresh change of clothes to put on.

I want to be the kind of mom that bakes cookies on a Tuesday night, just because.

I want to be the kind of mom that introduces my kids to new things. Places, foods, people, sports, music

I want to be the kind of mom that doesn't get annoyed with the amount of homework they get. It's already assigned, just do it so we can enjoy the night together. Need help with a school project? SURE. Challenge accepted. Why make kids hate school when you can help them and give them the skills they need to get things done. I'm not saying do it for them, but at school, they have a teacher guiding them . At home, they should have you.

I want to be the kind of mom that has something fun planned every weekend until it's not "cool" to hang out on weekends anymore.

I want to be the kind of mom that gives my child everything to help them succeed.

But most of all, I want to be the kind of mom that my little needs me to be!
